Woody One: 35 minutes early is better than 2 hours late. Bee back soon.
||||||||| Catherwood strides up and snorts derisively "Presenting 'Merlyn', just granted probation at 8:56 PM", then leaves hurriedly.
Merlyn waves

Dr Headphones: who needs help? all i want is a nice prozac and some bourbon....
Merlyn: I have no prozac, only the amateur kind
||||||||| Catherwood strides up and snorts derisively "Presenting 'ah,clem', just granted probation at 9:22 PM", then leaves hurriedly.

Merlyn: what's hosted live from marquette?
Dr Headphones: lullaby of broadway? i think that's george shearing. i saw him live once, super performer even if he is blind. of course, he didn't see me ;)
Dr Headphones: merl: read the notice at top of screen
Merlyn: yes, but what is it?
Dr Headphones: the lettering could be just a little bit bigger--i had to get my binoculars to read it
Dr Headphones: i guess it will eventually be firesign material, but we're hearing some good old jazz right now
Dr Headphones: ah so, i was right...but then i'm never wrong
||||||||| "9:27 PM? 9:27 PM!!" says Catherwood, "Dexter Fong should be here by now...oh, THERE you are!" as Dexter Fong enters and sits on the couch.

Merlyn: hey dex
ah,clem: btw, what do we want to hear tonight?
Woody One: I'm back. And I'm beutiful. That's always up for discussion. Howdy Dex, Doc, and all.
Dexter Fong: Ken: Concert sounded (looked like?) a really great event
Dr Headphones: shorts and quarts to allow more requests?
Woody One: Disregard bad spelling.
Dr Headphones: dex: i swear i will never again see/hear one that good. i'm still "high" from it
Merlyn: clem, where's this from? It's pretty recent.
Dexter Fong: K: How was Pat Metheny?
Dr Headphones: merl: this was from a radio show, i recorded off the air just prior to millennium
Dr Headphones: dex: good, but didn't hold a candle to eric clapton or carlos santana or b.b.king
Dexter Fong: K: He was in charge of lighting?
Woody One: It's great to be back. Too much work.
Dr Headphones: i actually liked larry carlton's set better than metheney if we're limiting to jazz
||||||||| cease waltzes in at 9:31 PM carrying an obsidian door knocker.
Dr Headphones: ha! no, the lightning started when zz top came on :)
Dr Headphones: hey cat
Dexter Fong: Hiya Cat

Merlyn: HI CLEM!
Dr Headphones: woody: i went to clapton's festival (12 hrs) in dallas over the weekend. FANTASTIC SHOW!
Dexter Fong: Ken: And how are the new kittens?
cease: the old toronto band or the right wing radio "person"?
Dr Headphones: dex: two new ones are great. of the six that were born almost a month ago, one died a couple nights ago. not sure what happened
Woody One: Kool, Doc. So many I want to see.
cease: nice to see eulogies for someone who deserves them for a change
Dr Headphones: woody: i'm making a page with pics, will let you know next week. still "under construction" at the moment
Dexter Fong: Cat: YOu mean Ray Charles?
Merlyn: Clem, do you have out of print stuff like 3 faces of al?
Dr Headphones: yes, cat, ray charles was a real loss. reagan was just another bad politician who died
Woody One: Rush ended with "Summertime Blues" & "Crossroads." Apparently, Rush's new release includes these and other classic tunes.
Woody One: OK.
cease: hit the road, ron
ah,clem: not sure, will look
Dr Headphones: woody: i was amazed with jeff beck and eric clapton doing a duet. sad part of it was only one song with jeff
Woody One: Damn. That's awesome though.
cease: quite a concert you went to, kend
Dr Headphones: yep, cat. won't ever forget it, for sure
Merlyn: sounds good, ah clem; can you play 3 faces of Al?
cease: santana too?
Dexter Fong: Merl: HUm a few bars
Woody One: Jeff Beck nearly made the intensity of Rogern Waters' "Amused To Death."
||||||||| "9:37 PM? 9:37 PM!!" says Catherwood, "lit should be here by now...oh, THERE you are!" as lit enters and sits on the couch.
Dr Headphones: if you're into blues, the john mayer/buddy guy/jimmie vaughan/b.b. king/eric clapton 5-way jam was unbelievable
Dr Headphones: hi lit
Dexter Fong: lit, American..lit, English...or just plain lit
Merlyn: hey lit
Dr Headphones: clem: i have 3 faces here if you want it--can download
Merlyn: "quick Henry, the lit!"

Dexter Fong: Hiya SFK
Dr Headphones: hey klok
Woody One: Hey SF. I'll drop off the K later.
stephnfosterkane: "sits on the couch" -- BULL! sfk has fallen from Grace and can't get up...
cease: ha Power!
Dr Headphones: is everyone sitting on the couch tonight? it will get crowded. i do NOT want anyone sitting on my lap! well, if lili gets here, she can sit there ;)
Woody One: Just prop yourself onto the catapult.
cease: lakers starting sloppy
Dexter Fong: Cat: Mailman can't start?
ah,clem: sorry, bad sample
cease: yeah, he's starting, but the team hasnt started scoring yet
stephnfosterkane: sfk can see himself in the log, but not on the chat page...
Dexter Fong: That sample was skewed
Woody One: Skew that sample.
stephnfosterkane: test
stephnfosterkane: ah
Dexter Fong: stet
cease: missed every shot they've taken so far, down up 6 in first minute
stephnfosterkane: changing to 15 lines of text seemed to get me out of the funk
Dr Headphones: "the invisible man" starring that star from rhode island, klok!
cease: spaulding gray?
stephnfosterkane: falling star
Dr Headphones: damn you, klok, i got winamp 5 just for the playlist after your email and wasted an hour surfing radio/tv stations.
stephnfosterkane: yeah, that list is a hummer, huh?
Dr Headphones: migratory sponges?
Woody One: Did they ever find Spaulding Gray?
Dr Headphones: yes, woody, waterlogged in the east river
Dexter Fong: I heard he was found in Delaware Bay
Woody One: Oh shit. I didn't know.
Woody One: He's been gone 3 mos.?
stephnfosterkane: maybe he's with us in another form
Dexter Fong: He's in my drinking water
Dr Headphones: clem: what is this one? i know i've heard it before, but can't place where
stephnfosterkane: griddly bears?
Woody One: I've known who he was since "True Stories" movie-David Byrne.
Dr Headphones: griddle cakes in the shape of bears. with maple syrup, delicious!
Dexter Fong: You may bear when ready Griddly
||||||||| With a theatrical clearing of his throat, Catherwood pipes up: "9:46 PM and late as usual, it's keone nunes, just back from Billville."
Merlyn: keen on nuns?
Dr Headphones: keone! glad you could make it
stephnfosterkane only encountered watching Swimming to Cambodia, but his bro. Channing famously stopped reviewing classical recordings because they'd become "stuffy", switched to pop
ah,clem: BRB
stephnfosterkane: LOL, Dex
Dr Headphones: pick a nick? watch out for the ants
stephnfosterkane: who is that speaking?
Dr Headphones: that is ah, clem, a/k/a jimmy lee
Merlyn: (we're being watched!)
Woody One: That sucks about Spalding.
stephnfosterkane: watch with my ears? is he on drugs or another illegal alien?
Dexter Fong: test
Dr Headphones: woody: i wasn't a fan, never saw anything of his, but had heard of him tangentially
stephnfosterkane: but I'm not prepared!
Dexter Fong: test
cease: yeah, very bad news, woody. i saw him in vancouver twice. both monologues were better than anything i've ever seen the firesign do
Dr Headphones: klok: answer to number 2 is "C"
Dexter Fong: test
Woody One: Check out True Stories. It's the best hour and hour you'll ever waste.
stephnfosterkane: what is the answer to "who was talking?"?
Dr Headphones: vhs/dvd available?
||||||||| It's 9:50 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| lit - dead from pneumonia
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
Woody One: and a half.
Dr Headphones: klok: i answered on the line after you asked
Dr Headphones: Dr Headphones: that is ah, clem, a/k/a jimmy lee
Dexter Fong: test
Woody One: I'v found the dvd on cut-rate price.
Dr Headphones: but I'm not prepared!
Dr Headphones: i'm postpared, though
stephnfosterkane: Yeah, and Swimming to Cambodia is a hoot. Esp.the rap about bar girls "...teeth in there or something", LOL
Woody One: Damn, I can't spell tonight.
||||||||| Dexter Fong says "Catherwood, call me a cab." After the obvious joke, Dexter Fong exits at 9:51 PM.
Woody One: You want a copy, Doc?
||||||||| "9:51 PM? 9:51 PM!!" says Catherwood, "Dexter Fong should be here by now...oh, THERE you are!" as Dexter Fong enters and sits on the couch.
Dr Headphones: paring is equivalent to peeling, and i'm doing that now after sitting in sun in texas most of the day on sunday
stephnfosterkane: contrast with Helen Hunt's account of what Bangkok bar girls are really like (in her opinion)
Dr Headphones: woody: that would be wonderful, if possible. email me: kendeb52 at yahoo dot com
cease: i had read the book of swimming to cambodia before seeing the flick.
cease: flick was MUCH better. not many books you can say that about
stephnfosterkane: DEFINITELY, Cat
Dr Headphones: rises to meet the east and venus walks in front of it
stephnfosterkane watched the whole thing...well, the good parts
Dr Headphones: alas, i did not rise to view it
Woody One: OK Doc. Got it.
Dr Headphones: clem: humbly requesting "small animal administration" from dear friends
stephnfosterkane: you get another chance in 8 years, Ken
cease: venus has bad parts?
Dexter Fong: Had to cut the arms off
Dr Headphones: klok: i plan to live long enough for that, but will probably miss the next one
Dexter Fong: Naughty bits
Dexter Fong: Ken: Leave a wake up call
Merlyn: Here's a naughty bit: http://fun.wuffle.com/images/funny/countdown-wank-me-off.jpeg
Dr Headphones: lol, yeah, will do. maybe my next incarnation will see it
stephnfosterkane: yeah Cat, missed 1st contact, saw 2nd and then in morning 3rd and 4th
||||||||| 9:55 PM -- Woody One left for parts unknown.   (Entry from Nick Danger's "Idiots I Have Been Paid To Follow").
Dr Headphones: good one, merl
Dr Headphones: "it's turtles all the way down."
stephnfosterkane: test
||||||||| Catherwood ushers smitty into the room, accepts a grimy quarter as a gratuity, mumbles something about 9:58 PM, then departs.
Dexter Fong: Smitten by smitty
Dr Headphones: hi smitty
smitty: Hello!
Dexter Fong: How's things under the Village Chestnut tree, smitty?
Dr Headphones: do we know you under another name, or are you a...virgin?
Dexter Fong: or a vagrant
||||||||| It's 10:00 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| keone nunes - dead from the common cold
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
smitty: Virgin
||||||||| Gusts of wind blow in from outside and the thumpa-thumpa-thumpa of helicopter blades is heard as Happy Panditt's chopper lands on the lawn and Bone-E-Boi disembarks at 10:00 PM.
Dexter Fong: BEB!
cease: hi bone
Bone-E-Boi: This just in... former President of the United States Ronald Reagan is still dead.
stephnfosterkane: Ken - try Winamp skins "EMP" and Nucleo_NLog_v102_ -- they are a hoot (must d/l. Also the "Whitecap" visualization)
smitty: Just learned about this chat on Majority Report.
Dr Headphones: well, kick off your shoes, light the hash, and enjoy :) the link at the top is live internet show with firesign audio if you can do two things at once while not being anywhere at all
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 10 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
Merlyn: franco could not be reached for comment
Dr Headphones: hi bone
Merlyn: catherwood's watch is about 20 minutes fast
Dr Headphones: well, smitty, if you're a firesign fan, and are at least partially nutzo, you will fit in well
stephnfosterkane: pulling that casket thru DC in 90ºF heat reminded me of the lie-in-state story of Pius XII...
smitty: I've been called worse.
Bone-E-Boi: President Malcolm X John Lennon declared five days of mourning after learning of the death of Ray Charles.
Merlyn: Pius became a rich compost
Dexter Fong: Lie-in-state- = Political campaign
Dr Headphones: isn't that a bob hope song? "thanks for the pomegranates"?
stephnfosterkane: what is "malbug"?
Merlyn: I thought it was "Thanks for Granada, pommies"
Dr Headphones: quid malburg in plano. plano is in texas. ergo, quo erat demonstratum
Dexter Fong: small insect found in malls
||||||||| 10:04 PM: Elayne jumps out of the hall closet saying "I've been listening to all of you talking about me for the past hour!"
stephnfosterkane: According to the book I read, he was bubbling away while on display...
Dr Headphones: elayne! jump for joy!
stephnfosterkane: hey, E!
Dexter Fong: Hiya Elayne
Merlyn: Proctor found a lighter that said "Malmborg in Plano", apparently some place owned by someone named Malmborg in Plano, TX
Elayne: Evenin' all!
Elayne: I'm afraid tonight I've got Georgia on my mind.
Merlyn: hi E
Elayne: All those G8 guys, don'tcha know...
cease: hi el
Dr Headphones: schevrednadze thanks you, el
Dexter Fong: Merl: Always wondered where that expression came from
stephnfosterkane: that makes sense -- TX filled up with a lot of German farmers since that was the last good land left
Bone-E-Boi: brb
cease: savana rolls on
stephnfosterkane: why all those hot women in E. TX
Dr Headphones: i can dig it
Elayne: Oh, that Georgia has been much on my mind as well, Dr H...
stephnfosterkane: yeah, here's to Tilbisi!
Elayne: http://www.civil.ge/eng/article.php?id=7107
ah,clem: Merl, still live, just running the first half first...
Elayne: And this one too: http://www.civil.ge/eng/article.php?id=6996
stephnfosterkane: Putin would do better to be more concilliatory -- he's criticizing US, but playing the same Latin America game with the USSR's old toys
Elayne: And now we have an inkling as to why: http://www.rbcnews.com/free/20040610165238.shtml
||||||||| Catherwood ushers The Late President Yamamoto into the room, accepts a grimy quarter as a gratuity, mumbles something about 10:07 PM, then departs.
Merlyn: He's late
cease: hi yammy
The Late President Yamamoto: oi
Dr Headphones: hi yam
Dexter Fong: Elayne speaks only in URLs, as did the Delphis Oracle
Dexter Fong: Delphic
The Late President Yamamoto: me? Late? I thought it fashionable
Dexter Fong: OI Yam
Dr Headphones: e: why would the last one not load? any idea?
stephnfosterkane: E - RBC news seems to have taken a powder
The Late President Yamamoto: Yeah, delphi wants his oroacle back.
Dexter Fong: Ken: YOu've got to sacrifice a bull
Elayne: Dr H, that last one takes awhile...
Elayne: Hey Yam!
Dr Headphones: dex: will some bullshit work as well? i'm full of that ;)
stephnfosterkane: ah! an interview!
The Late President Yamamoto: There's plenty of bull to sacrifice these days
Elayne: I can't believe CSPAN is just showing what might as well be a still picture of Bonzo lying in state.
Dexter Fong: K: Suicides do not count
Elayne: Did we have a federal holiday when Nixon started on his journey to Hell? I don't remember.
The Late President Yamamoto: Suicide is painless, tho
The Late President Yamamoto: No
stephnfosterkane: E - special Skybird -- you just got mentioned on-air!
Dr Headphones: is tomorrow official holiday? no post office?
Dexter Fong: Yam: Depends on how you do it, I think
Elayne: I did, Stephen? Whatever for? Oooh!
cease: of course, ah
The Late President Yamamoto: If you fuck up, tho, it hurts like a bitch
stephnfosterkane: yeah, we need FIVE hundred thousand to show up for Ray Charles
Elayne: Now see, I turn on Skybird and I can't post any more. :(
Dr Headphones: i've always heard that deaths come in threes. i'm wondering who will be the third in this set.
Dexter Fong: 500,00 Raylettes...what a procession
The Late President Yamamoto: Tomorrow is officially an off day, to demoonstrate god old american stupidity
stephnfosterkane: that seems strange
Dexter Fong: 500,000 Raylettes seems strange
Dr Headphones: elayne: are you georgian, thus the deep interest?
||||||||| Catherwood says "10:12 PM, time for SOMEONE to leave!", grabs Elayne by the collar and gives 'em the old bum's rush out the door
||||||||| "10:12 PM? 10:12 PM!!" says Catherwood, "Elayne should be here by now...oh, THERE you are!" as Elayne enters and sits on the couch.
Dr Headphones: well, crap, i ask a question and she leaves
cease: gorgonzola th4 cheese monster
stephnfosterkane: I had the same problem, E - use the "configure" option on the "send to all" menu to change the # text lines to something else (11, say) and it will re-start
Elayne: No Dr. H, I'm just riffing on the Georgia pun 'cause of the late great Ray Charles.
Dexter Fong: The infinite couch
Dr Headphones: but, she came back!
The Late President Yamamoto: What, a rush! Catherwood, ya bum
Elayne: It's okay SFK, I just exited and re-entered and it worked. So in what context was my name mentioned?
cease: i don't think i've heard this, on ah clem's show
Dexter Fong: sub-context
The Late President Yamamoto: out of context, it';s radio
Dexter Fong: I think We're all Hong Kong bar-girls on this Bus
Elayne: Yeah, but I mean, what did they say? Enquiring minds need to know!
The Late President Yamamoto is lisstening to beeb 3
||||||||| "10:14 PM? 10:14 PM!!" says Catherwood, "doctectonic should be here by now...oh, THERE you are!" as doctectonic enters and sits on the couch.
Elayne: So when was this interview done?
Dexter Fong: Brit-ish
Dr Headphones: e: i was so overcome with emotion when i heard my name, that i didn't hear yours. sorry....
Elayne: Hey Tom!
Dr Headphones: hi doc
Elayne: Dang...
cease: doc!
Dexter Fong: Hey Doctectonic...how's your plate
stephnfosterkane: oh, Clem was just saying hi to all of us. Special "hi" to Smitty, maybe, Clem?
The Late President Yamamoto: btw sorry about the long nick, but I'm obliged to show my disrespect
doctectonic: upper or lower?
||||||||| Catherwood ushers llanwydd into the room, accepts a grimy quarter as a gratuity, mumbles something about 10:15 PM, then departs.
cease: this sounds like the hour hour firesign
Elayne: Yam, you're the moral equivalent of our founding fathers! Which I guess makes you a terrorist!
The Late President Yamamoto gives doctectonic poli grip
Dr Headphones: yam: i'm repulsed by the deification/beatification of ronnie going on right now
ah,clem: sure sfk
Dexter Fong: Ilan!
llanwydd: hi
ah,clem: can do
Dr Headphones: hi llany
Elayne: Hello llan!
cease: llan
stephnfosterkane: wow, and earthquake of chatters to fill our home entertainment centers
The Late President Yamamoto: We are all repulsed, yet beguiled
Merlyn: elayne and SFK - I think the skybird link should work better now, it'll open a new window now
stephnfosterkane: read Christopher Hitchens' hatchet job in Slate, Ken. Will make you feel better...
The Late President Yamamoto: and OI
llanwydd: I'm going to be late the next few weeks.
Dexter Fong: test
Dr Headphones: klok: will do
The Late President Yamamoto: Actually, I'm amazed
The Late President Yamamoto: Dex, you failed
llanwydd: I'm doing "Much Ado About Nothing"
cease: on darkness saving time, llan?
The Late President Yamamoto hands dex a dunce cap
Dexter Fong: Failure is not a possibility
Elayne: Save some of that darkness for me!
The Late President Yamamoto: llan, we already have the ray-gun funeral
llanwydd: No, rehearsing a play
stephnfosterkane: Ken - "Not Even A Hedgehog" -- http://slate.msn.com/id/2101842
The Late President Yamamoto: much ado....
Elayne: The only tribute that man deserves is during the annual Oscar "these are all the actors who've died" bit...
cease: hands doch ness
Dr Headphones: found it, klok, open on another tab, will read later
The Late President Yamamoto: He'll get that, too
Dexter Fong: Klok: Thanks for the tip on reconfiguring, now can listen to skybird and chat
Elayne: Yes, but Chris Hitchens has already gone 'round the bend, and on a bender.
Elayne: He's a major Bush apologist now.
The Late President Yamamoto: got bent?
Dr Headphones: dex: but can you walk and fart at the same time? that trick eluded ford
The Late President Yamamoto: Stole G WMD'
Elayne: I think that's why he drinks so much. Pro-Bush hullaballoocinations.
stephnfosterkane: he's been on a bender for awhile; as for his greening to the neo-cons...who knows? terminal brain damage?
Dexter Fong: Ken: Prefer to do it that way always
The Late President Yamamoto: Stole G WMD's Coke, then?
llanwydd: I voted for Reagan in 1980 but I would not have if I had known what he would do to Libya in '86
Elayne: 911 changed people. Hitchens, Miller... who can predict panic reactions...
cease: maybe he has sam seder's diagnosis of bush's drunk disease
Elayne: Or panicked reactionaries.
stephnfosterkane forgets what tip he gave Dex, but accepts any thanks he can get ;-)
The Late President Yamamoto has never voted republican in his life
Dr Headphones: e: changed most for the worst, i'm sorry to report
Dexter Fong: Celm or anyone listening to skybird...what's playing
Elayne: I don't think so, Dr. H. I'll never forget the courage of NY'ers that day. And it was in evidence again a couple years later during the blackout.
Dr Headphones: yam: i have voted republican in local erections here, since there are generally no dems running locally
stephnfosterkane: there's a CSPAN segment with Hitchens up on their archive right now, and he explains why he changed, but it didn't make much sense
ah,clem: I am running an interview from 1970
The Late President Yamamoto: Ha, I wouldn't vote
Dr Headphones: e: i'm referring to the constant aura of fear that many in high places are instilling in citizens
Elayne: They just mentioned Ray Bradbury on that Hour Hour, or whatever it is.
Dexter Fong: Thanks Clem
stephnfosterkane: super-special stuff, Dex! Worth heering!
Merlyn: ray bradbury is pissed at michael moore for the movie title farenheit 9/11
ah,clem: np
Elayne: There's a rumor going around that Bradbury's pissed about Moore's new movie title.
llanwydd: republicans aren't all bad
Elayne: I think it's probably bullshit, I can't see Bradbury saying that.
doctectonic: i'm bouncing back and forthe between chats...
Dr Headphones: yam: i actually voted in the republican primary last presidential election so i could vote for mccain and against bush
doctectonic: got lili on the other line, in sydney
Merlyn: I just started that rumor
Elayne: It's a scientific fact that he happened to use as a book title. You can't trademark a scientific fact.
Dexter Fong: Ilan: Sorry pal, they are all bad
Dr Headphones: gore had a lock on this state, so it didn't hurt him
llanwydd: but Reagan was the only republican president I ever voted for
stephnfosterkane: say "hi" for us!
Elayne: Sydney! How exciting! Hello Lili!!
cease: are you listening to the story about bradbury visiting proctor on shoutcast now?
Dr Headphones: hi lili in sydney!
stephnfosterkane: or give me her # ;-)
cease: very syncrhonistic. or, not
Merlyn: you can't copyright titles, but what if the title of your book is the whole text of the book?
The Late President Yamamoto: Well, I'm really beginning to question the validity of it, meself
doctectonic: sfk: thanks to the modern miracle of cut&paste, i just did
Elayne: If this is a 1970 interview there's no way in hell my name would have been mentioned. I wasn't born then... uh, okay, yes I was...
The Late President Yamamoto: I was 10
Dr Headphones: e: i think clem mentioned names before this recording. clem IS alive
ah,clem: anyone have anything to say on the radio? (May take a few calls after the second half of Bozos)
Elayne: I think a number of sf bloggers are trying to ascertain whether Bradbury actually said that. I think it's a right-wingnut plant, myself.
stephnfosterkane: E - clem is annotating between segments
The Late President Yamamoto: likely
Merlyn: Could be, E
doctectonic: she's heading out for lunch now, picking up xrays of her head injury while she's out...
Dr Headphones: clem: i take the fifth. bourbon preferred ;)
The Late President Yamamoto: ow
doctectonic: she still has a nsaty small-walnut-sized bump over her right eye as a result of a fall she took two weeks ago
Elayne: Clem, what was said about me during the between-portion?
Dr Headphones: doc: i'm hoping she's much better on the pathway to wholeness
stephnfosterkane: E - I've seen Bradbury in interviews. He's fairly straight-up conservative type, despite his fiction. Kind of like a classic '50s liberal, but aghast at the '70s kind.
The Late President Yamamoto: I may get spotty soon, Installing linux on the main machine
ah,clem: /me gives Ken a tall glass of something cold and tasty
cease: indeed. all the best to her, doc
ah,clem: oh,
The Late President Yamamoto: y
doctectonic: dr.h: well it's taking time, and the docs want to look at xrays and cat scans
Dr Headphones: yam: if you spot, use a pad
The Late President Yamamoto: what happened?
Elayne: Robin and I send our best as well, Tom.
ah,clem: an irc habbit
cease: hobbit?
The Late President Yamamoto: hobbits?
cease: where is this from, ah?
stephnfosterkane: which flavor, Yam?
Elayne: Instead of "/me" you have to go through your colon now, Clem.
Elayne demonstrates.
The Late President Yamamoto: cohobbitation, cat
doctectonic: so she's been busy lining that up - it's a bit of a drag being at the mercy of the australian health care system - out of pocket expenses, and they don't have the greatest reputation in terms of competence and expertise
The Late President Yamamoto: SuSE 9.1
stephnfosterkane: Cat is in Sydney? I thought he was in LA! Guess it's those cheap Southwest shuttle flights...
cease: no, i'm in van, as almost always
Dexter Fong: Cat: Get a room
Dr Headphones: go through your colon? you mean like "blow it out your ass"?
The Late President Yamamoto: Sydney is prett southwest
The Late President Yamamoto: 1979 Chevy Van
cease: lol
stephnfosterkane: what's the fare to Bangkok, DT? Bumrungrad awaits, super-competent and cheap
stephnfosterkane: Yam must have bux to spare ;-)
The Late President Yamamoto: I hear yr trying to turn the inside into a bong
stephnfosterkane: Ken - did you check the "Sia" clip on KCRW? (speaking of which)
The Late President Yamamoto: SFK?
Dr Headphones: not yet, klok, but i saved the email
The Late President Yamamoto: I saved up for it, yeah
doctectonic: sfk: well, from sydney she is heading for auckland nz and the 2nd (&more intensive) part of the consulting gig she's handling
The Late President Yamamoto: I liked SuSE 8.1 a lot, but wanted a full update
stephnfosterkane: hmmm. get the stuff done in Sydney, since if you thought the Oz healthcare was retarded...
cease: legalization of marijuana in canada. and this is from 34 years ago?
Dr Headphones: i loaded suse once, but that little lizard or whatever almost scared me away ;)
Dexter Fong: Cat: Forward into the past
stephnfosterkane can't afford the boxed stuff, d/l the free things, and Mandrake is in the lead there
doctectonic: i think a stopover in bangkok is out of the question (i'll have to ask her if she's ever been there though - during her tenure as an openwave employee she worked in myriad foreign locations
ah,clem: yes cat, it is
The Late President Yamamoto: I've has the best of luck with it, got it online and pretty functional
cease: i'd like to get a copy of this!
Dr Headphones: might have been a sally-mander
The Late President Yamamoto: I saved change for it, actually
stephnfosterkane: it's only worthwhile if she's really worried about the health system; I doubt it's that much cheaper for CAT scans and MRIs, but the professional rates are lower. Thailand is 'way out of the way, though, from either place
Dexter Fong: Cat: It's an Interview/Radio show
The Late President Yamamoto: about 3 mos worth
Dr Headphones: cat: i'll check and see if this is one i gave clem. if so, i can send to you or you can download it from my illegal server
llanwydd: there must be someone in the world named Sally Mander
cease: touring canada! this is amazing!
stephnfosterkane: super FST interview, Clem!
Merlyn: and her husband Jerry
ah,clem: is one of yours Ken
doctectonic: are we talking suse or zuse? http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/06/07/1748206&mode=thread&tid=126&tid=137
Dexter Fong: Zeus?
cease: i have a bunch of radio interveiws with the lads but this is the best i can think of
llanwydd: jerry mander. LOL
Merlyn: Zeus spelled backwards is Suez
stephnfosterkane: suse
stephnfosterkane: Zuse's son examines the claims and Attenoff and Babbage and stuff somewhere on his site
Merlyn: Jerry Mander as the Beaver, Senator from Oregon
cease: wrote the book 4 arguments for the abolishment of TV, a big influence on adbusters
Dexter Fong: A Man A Plan Suez
doctectonic: i remember jerry mander - didn't he write a book in the '80s called 'four arguments for the elimination of television'?
Merlyn: Zeus, a god a dog - Suez!
Merlyn: almost
The Late President Yamamoto: arph
doctectonic: cat: you read that too!?
doctectonic: i remember that book
Dexter Fong: Merl: =))
stephnfosterkane: neat article in NYT today about shortage of long oil tankers, Dex; sobering
cease: i was forced to by kalle, doc. he based the 2nd issue of adbusters on it
Merlyn: Zeus, a God, a dog, a ... Suez!
doctectonic: did you also read 'snap crackle and popular taste'? (i forget who wrote that one)
Elayne: Clem's on the air chatting again now...
stephnfosterkane: Clem - HI TO LILI
llanwydd: next it will be a shortage of oil
Dexter Fong: Clem: I want to dedicate this to the Wounded Man, and all the Cat's at the corner of 110th and Suez
doctectonic: 'snap crackle and popular taste' was sort of an amateur mcluhan wannabe book, but its saving grace was that there were some really funny lines in it
stephnfosterkane: dang those pig-nut producers!
Elayne: Clem, you sound like you're sleepy on the air. :)
Dr Headphones: cat: check your private messages
cease: hey, we're on chat and being discussed on the air. now if we can invade the majority report
llanwydd: bury my heart at Wounded Man
Dexter Fong: E: Clem has that laid back FM style
Elayne: Cat, I have a number of blogger friends who've already invaded that program...
Dr Headphones: light 'em if you've got 'em
stephnfosterkane: and that deep smoker's voice
Merlyn: but we'd have to listen to two realaudio streams at once
Dexter Fong: Cat: Every body get out your webcams
Elayne: Ah, he's going for a smoke now... maybe that explains the smoky voice...
Elayne: Oh no, the breaking of the president... very timely!
Dr Headphones: cockaroaches and spiders and bees, oh my!
Dexter Fong goes out for a drink, cause he can smoke in his own house
llanwydd: its de bees an spahduhs agin
cease: they have bloggers as part of the show, and interact with the blog.
Elayne: It's the bees and cicadas again!
cease: good news, kend
Dr Headphones: i'm only a clone....
Elayne: I know Cat, bloggers have been a huge part of Air America so far, it's pretty neat.
llanwydd: cicadas!
Dr Headphones: yummy. crunchy but protein-filled
Elayne: Tasty cicadas!!
Dexter Fong: Cicadas/Secada
llanwydd: sounds like a tapas special
Dr Headphones: i had a caterpillar roll sushi last saturday night! smoked eel, cucumber, rice, all wrapped in slices of avocado. was yummy
Elayne: I saw a picture of that on Hanan Levin's Grow-a-Brain blog today, Dr. H!
stephnfosterkane shudders
Elayne: Was the head made out of wasabi?
Dexter Fong: My caterpillar roll had steel treads, a 550 HP diesel engine
Dr Headphones: it is legal to smoke eel in texas ;)
||||||||| It's 10:40 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| smitty - dead from the fiddlers
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
Dr Headphones: no, the wasabi almost looked like what the caterpillar left behind him after eating
Elayne: http://growabrain.typepad.com/growabrain/2004/06/mixed_sashimi.html
Dexter Fong: Many condemned Texas prisoners ask for smoked eel for their last meal
Dr Headphones: e: i took a pic of it because it was so unusual, would you like to see it?
llanwydd: there's a chinese buffet near me that serves caviar sushi. Very good.
Elayne: Although I guess that picture is a bit more of a butterfly than a caterpillar....
Elayne: Sure, Dr. H!
cease: smitty gets a hello from ah clem and then dies. is that a coincidence?
Dexter Fong: Noting's a coincidence Cat
stephnfosterkane: he was looking really gray for awhile
Merlyn: there goes the prez
Merlyn: do ronald reagan murder case next
Dr Headphones: anyone else want to see before i hit "send"?
cease: is that anick danger, merl? sounds familiar, maybe from the vid collection?
Dr Headphones: going once....going twice....
Dexter Fong: You-ooh-ooh send me
cease: noting's a hill, dex
Dexter Fong: Notting's a ham
Merlyn: that was a tirebiter bit done live, wasn't it?
Dr Headphones: ok, nyc friends, on the way
cease: that's relaly familiar. an ossman piece?
Elayne: Looking forward to it!
Merlyn: pretty sure, yes, cat
cease: yeah, tirebiter, not nick danger.
cease: did dave do it as the minicon, merl?
Merlyn: midwest radio theater workshop
Merlyn: maybe a minicon too
cease: right!
Bone-E-Boi: brb
llanwydd: that's why I never heard of it
cease: something about reagan in a duck suit, as i recall?
cease: i must have a cassette of it
Merlyn: yeah, he was dressed in a duck outfit
Dexter Fong: Right! Reagan was only a decoy for GWB
cease: duck, and cover
Dr Headphones: cheney and scalia might shoot the decoy
Dexter Fong: Not all he was quacked up to be though
Merlyn: remember, if there's terrorism, get duck tape
Dr Headphones: hello, worker
Dexter Fong: Hi Boss
Bone-E-Boi: the bonemeister, the boneman, the bonester is back.
Dexter Fong: Gosh Bone, you missed the exposition and everything
cease: dem bones, dem bones, dem Dry bones
Dr Headphones: dex: i saw him moving his finger down the script, though
stephnfosterkane: since the Eagle landed
Dexter Fong: K: But then he moved on...like Hank Williams
Bone-E-Boi: his imperial boneyness
cease: the mghty eagle soars!
Dr Headphones: or moved on up like weezy?
cease: bes thing the eagles ever landed was joe walsh
Dexter Fong: Ken; +00
Dexter Fong: K: =))
Dr Headphones: joe walsh is funny as hell! he said before one of his songs: "i'd like to dedicate this song to all you who never had a song dedicated to you before."
Dexter Fong: Ken: Tell Cat about Joe Walsh
Bone-E-Boi: cease knows where I was, and why I'm here now, and where I'll be going in a few minutes.
Dexter Fong: Do some more
Dr Headphones: before he played "rocky mountain" he said if he knew it would last 30 years he would have done a better job on it
stephnfosterkane is totally mystified by about 20 of the last 15 posts...
Dexter Fong: K: About who he appeared with
Dr Headphones: he also sneaked on stage while james taylor was putting everyone to sleep and rocked out on "steamroller blues"
Bone-E-Boi: here's a hint: they're down by seven at the half
Dexter Fong: Thank you, Ken
cease: i share his devotion to vince guaraldi. i saw him play cast your fate to the wind with the band of the day in toronto in 71
cease: he was very funny on Duckman too
doctectonic is here, more or less in lurk mode, as he works on programming stuff for lodestone - bubba is in MO for a radio theater convention, said he would try to pop in if he can snag a spare browser somewhere
Dr Headphones: deputy dan has no friends
Dexter Fong: Deputy Dan!!
Dr Headphones: naked children :)
Dexter Fong: Right on!
Bone-E-Boi: this just in... former President of the United States Ronald Reagan is still dead
Dr Headphones: bone: drive a stake through his heart just to be sure
stephnfosterkane: Dex, it's you!
Dexter Fong: Hey It's my Theme song
llanwydd: are we waiting for the ressurection of the president?
Dexter Fong: I'm not Ilan
doctectonic: how is hideo these days anyway?
cease: just like franco, bone
Dexter Fong: Doc: He's in the outsourcing biz
Dr Headphones: not me. i'm waiting for this one to leave. death, election, impeachment, whatever
Dr Headphones: all hail hale bopp!
Dexter Fong: I still think it's strange that Phil A didn't recognize the name, Dexter Fong
stephnfosterkane: no matter what outrage he commits, the citizens just seem to say, "Isn't that cute?"
Dexter Fong: Klk: Ron or Bush?..(PRolly both)
Dr Headphones: klok: even worse, some say "it's god's will."
cease: its citizen kane all over agbain, kane
stephnfosterkane is reminded of the SNL skit with Shattner being quizzed by Trek fanatics, asking obscure questions about trivia of late '60s episodes...
stephnfosterkane: bush
cease: good point, kane
Dexter Fong: Klok: I do *not* live in my parents basement
stephnfosterkane: memo from the top: it's OK to torture?
Dr Headphones: my parents don't have a basement
Elayne: I think I'm gonna retire, folks. Next week, I'll be mobile and, with any luck, no longer exhausted!
||||||||| Elayne departs at 10:59 PM, singing "Toad away, toad away; toad away, toad away! Where do you go when you're toad away?"
cease: i dont think they have basements in la
stephnfosterkane: good night, Elayne! rest well
Dexter Fong: Night E
Dr Headphones: bush now says he can't remember. reagan is being reincarnated as we listen to the news....
cease: see you next week, el
Dr Headphones: cat: water table is about 18 inches down in florida
Bone-E-Boi: None of the four buoys is equivalent to William Shatner.
stephnfosterkane: ROFL of my life was when yankees started coming to Raleigh and insisting on their homes being built with full basements
cease: would take a lot more buoys to keep shatner afloat
Dexter Fong ponders this: Reagan was Bush's "bush"..now Bush is Cheyneys "bush"
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 11 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
stephnfosterkane: with or without the wig?
Bone-E-Boi: the Floating Shatner by Stein.
Dr Headphones: wigs are against my religion
ah,clem: ..
Dr Headphones: east rhode island school of design terrace
Dr Headphones: small animal administration from dear friends, clem
stephnfosterkane: you're seeing what we heard 2 minutes ago?
Bone-E-Boi: Mr. Austin, if Stein were a Klein bottle, the significance could be much like the mathematical satire of Lewis Carroll if seen from the perspective of blah blah blah
stephnfosterkane: MARK TIME!
Dr Headphones: klok: "forward into the past"
stephnfosterkane: CLEM - Mark Time!
doctectonic: nick danger ...missing shoe?
Dexter Fong: Hooray for Skybird!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bone-E-Boi: but... I'm... really... not... sure... if the Firesign Theatre has got anything to do with this.
Dexter Fong: What about my dedication to all the cats on the corner of 110th and Suez?
doctectonic: giant toad!
llanwydd: that's quite over my head, bone
llanwydd: or my bone head
cease: it's what giants lick to get high, uh, higher
||||||||| The Late President Yamamoto departs at 11:05 PM, singing "Toad away, toad away; toad away, toad away! Where do you go when you're toad away?"
Bone-E-Boi: the correct answer is GET A LIFE
Dr Headphones: well, publicize the phone number either on air or on chat!
cease: has there ever been a comic bit from any of the dope humourists of the past few decades, about a giant, like jack and beanstock kinda giant, who got stoned, or "high"?
stephnfosterkane: and the 1927 chevrolet engine
cease: jack and the hempstock
stephnfosterkane: Clem - ALL the FST stuff comes out "kind of funny"...
Dexter Fong: SFK: How did you know he was gonna say that
stephnfosterkane: Clem - become the ROOT of all EVIL ;-)
Dr Headphones: stream of consciousness announcing :)
stephnfosterkane: Dex - you are in black hole
stephnfosterkane: otherwise known as tape delay...
Dexter Fong: And it's costing me a fortune
Merlyn: Oh, some guy doing an Enron documentary wants to use the XM bit about The Fall of Enron done as Wagner's Ring opera
stephnfosterkane: my connection to Skybird has precedence over yours, and gets audio first
stephnfosterkane: move to Red Bank -- much cheeper
cease: good news, merl
Dexter Fong: Wow, The whole Mark time album
llanwydd: its a far, far better thing that I...
cease: radio doc or film?
Merlyn: Film, cat
Bone-E-Boi: I'm off to the Klein & Stein for a t bone snake and hemp hop Brewski Pow Wow. http://www.kleinbottle.com/images/giantKleinbotandCliff2.jpg
Merlyn: or maybe TV
stephnfosterkane simply loves "How Time Flys"
cease: have fun, bone
Dexter Fong: Night Bone
stephnfosterkane: Flies...oops
Bone-E-Boi: aren't you watching the game, cease?
doctectonic: i always get a charge out of the surreal muzak behind the spaceship automated system babbling
cease: i have it on, but try and avoid watching detroit.
llanwydd: ...cruisin down the river on a Sunday afternoon...
Dr Headphones: klok: i think the "flys" is correct, but i'll walk over to the stack of lp's and see for sure
Dexter Fong: BEB: What's the score
Dexter Fong: FLyus is coreect
cease: no way i would ever not be watching a laker game.
Bone-E-Boi: Dunno, Dexter. Commercials.
Dexter Fong: Flys
Dr Headphones: yep, non-standard plural used on that one
cease: lakers had closed to within 4, then suddenly down by 14. fuck!
doctectonic: flys is indeed correct
Bone-E-Boi: tee bone
Dexter Fong: Isn't "Flys" related to Verb "to fly", Flies plural of "Fly" insect
llanwydd: how thyme phlais
Bone-E-Boi: this just in... former President of the United States Ronald Reagan is still dead.
stephnfosterkane was actually thinking of the Mark Time clip in "Dear Friends", though
Dr Headphones: he flies on an airplane
doctectonic: hey lland ... what do you encode to? 16kbps mono?
Dexter Fong: SFK: I thought you were
stephnfosterkane has the unsettling sense of Clem as our pilot and this coming over the intercom as the plane is doing some scary stuff...
Dexter Fong: K: There are no flies on this plane
Bone-E-Boi: let's go get stoned
llanwydd: I can't encode on webtv
Dr Headphones: lol, klok! and bone, i
Dexter Fong: Good Idea Bone
Dr Headphones: i'se ready if you are--light it up
stephnfosterkane: we're gonna crash! XMMS locks up...
llanwydd: I wouldn't know a kpbs from KGB
Dexter Fong: XM Sattelite crashing...It looks serious
stephnfosterkane: you doin' a Belushi, Dex?
Bone-E-Boi: the situation is deteriorating rap...
Dr Headphones: my winamp says this feed is 16/11
Dexter Fong: Klok: What's a Belushi?
||||||||| Bone-E-Boi departs at 11:16 PM, singing "Toad away, toad away; toad away, toad away! Where do you go when you're toad away?"
llanwydd: I think a belushi is a combination of cocaine and heroin
Dexter Fong: YIkes
stephnfosterkane: John Belushi's rap on SNL newscast in the '70s about how Skylab was gonna crash into his apt...
stephnfosterkane: that's a goofball, isn't it?
Dr Headphones: speaking of cocaine, clapton played layla, sustained the final note and it became the first note of cocaine. 'twas wunnerful, wunnerful
Dexter Fong: Snowball...goofball...
cease: was santana at this concert, kend?
Dr Headphones: oh yes, cat, and i was spiritually transported into etheric realms by his playing
stephnfosterkane: fully hallicrafted; love that
cease: a whle buncha concerts wrapped into 1, eh? sounds amazing
doctectonic: sorry - not lland - i meant clem
Dr Headphones: carlos mentioned that clapton was putting on this concert as a benefit for drug/alcohol rehab and said "he's healing people, as opposed to bush who is doing the opposite."
ah,clem: ?
ah,clem: what's up doc...?
stephnfosterkane: that's it -- heading for your Brownstone, Dex
Dr Headphones: santana and clapton did killer duet of "go va"

ah,clem: 44.1 for normal
ah,clem: doc- 22.5 minimum
stephnfosterkane: mouse-tongued enema!
Dr Headphones: is there any other type of enema? :)
cease: remember drop drill?
stephnfosterkane: you don't want 2 know
||||||||| "11:23 PM? 11:23 PM!!" says Catherwood, "Bunnyboy should be here by now...oh, THERE you are!" as Bunnyboy enters and sits on the couch.
Dexter Fong: Gerbils
stephnfosterkane: grew up in NC, Cat -- never had them
Bunnyboy: Happy Bidet ta me
Dexter Fong: Heya Bun
Dr Headphones: i have a friend who did a red wine enema once, said it really gets you drunk quickly. i have never tried that
cease: hi bun. did you have drop drills where you were?
Dr Headphones: hi bun
cease: dirty pcitures!
Dexter Fong: Ken: Doesn't that kinda screw up the bouquet?
Dr Headphones: this is harry shearer, right?
stephnfosterkane: he had the Oil Wars dead on, though
Dr Headphones: silly dex, bouquets are for flowers!
cease: duck and cover, was mentioned in an earlier firesign piece. that's what we had to do at 10 am every friday morning. drop drills, under our desks in la in 50s
Dexter Fong: YOu had desks. Cat?
cease: i was just visitng those schools, or at least their perimeters.
Bunnyboy: And the turtle's name?
stephnfosterkane: Batista was running Cuba then and NC was south of any targets, so we didn't have to worry about attack, just radiation
cease: i think left over from ww2, or maybe ww1, pretty old
Dexter Fong: Bunny: PHlo
Dr Headphones: i was in fla, too near cuba to be hit by those missiles
Bunnyboy: Hang on, my wife is smothering me with birthday attention.
stephnfosterkane: no missiles in Cuba in the '50s
cease: how nice
Dr Headphones: birthday? HIPPO BIRDBARF TO YOU!
cease: a new "head" in rushmore naitonal park.
stephnfosterkane: Ken is now a week into his new year...
cease: great dope jokes from this fire-era
Dexter Fong: Bunny: A very hippy hoppy buthudsday to you
Dexter Fong: Love, Pooh
llanwydd: If there is a new head I don't think it will be Reagan
Dexter Fong: (As written my owl)
Dexter Fong: by
stephnfosterkane: i think this is a riff on the Orson Welles "jar in the bathroom" effect in "War of the Worlds"
cease: ah clem, do you have the reagan stuff the firesign did? there's a fair amount
Dr Headphones: cat: fighting clowns?
llanwydd: jar in the bathroom? I don't remember that part
cease: lawyer's hospital has something and that election coverage they did for npr, campagin chronicles. quite a bit more, as i recall
cease: yeah, the reagan song, i think ah clem played that recently
Dexter Fong: It's Tweeny!]
Dexter Fong: Cat: BY the 8 Shoes?
cease: yes
Dexter Fong: Fighting Clowns, the Album...Performance (live) differs
cease: ossman's ronald reagon murder mystery should be played too, if ah clem has that.
llanwydd: Hey Reagan, you're not too old
cease: what do you mean, dex? did you see it live? i've seen some vid, but forget what
cease: i havent heard Fred;s cd of a show they did just before reagan was shot
Dexter Fong: Cat: There's a live performance from the time Reagan was shot called "The Ronald Reagan Assasination SHow"..Zwiebel made it available
cease: yes, i dont think i bought that one. most of his others, though
stephnfosterkane: ...at least not Reagan as they'd like him
Dr Headphones: inchoate passage of time. what a wonderful phrase
Bunnyboy: Hey! Bunnette got me an RCA Lyra MP3 Digital Audio Player! 1.5 GB!
Dexter Fong: Gat parts of "Clowns" "Lawyers Hospital" and "Joey Demagraphico"
Dr Headphones: hats off to bunnette
Dr Headphones: and headphones on to da bun
stephnfosterkane: Ilan - sound effect of the spaceship from Mars opening up. Mike in tile bathroom off studio and cold cream jar
stephnfosterkane: wow, what a present, Bun!
Dr Headphones: landfill, california. scenic town
llanwydd: I've got to listen to that again
Bunnyboy: An unexpected delight.
stephnfosterkane lost his scrolling again, had to fiddle with lines of text to get it going. Merlyn?
doctectonic: clem pvt msg
stephnfosterkane: missed 20 lines of stuff; still catching up
Merlyn: did you click on the skybird link?
stephnfosterkane: yes
Merlyn: and that's what messed it up?
stephnfosterkane: not again, though, not since when I signed on 117 minutes ago
Bunnyboy: DId anybody else spring for the first SCTV box set this week. It's the bull's nads!
Dexter Fong: I take it you did Bun =))
cease: i've had them all on vid for a long time. why would i want the dvds?
stephnfosterkane: that's what seemed to mess it up 117 minutes ago, also Elayne had same sort of problem, had to exit and re-enter
doctectonic drools over the prospect of boxed sctv dvds
Dexter Fong: SFK and Merl: Me too but reconfigure fixed it
stephnfosterkane: I did nothing I remember just recently, though. It just stopped for the longest time. I finally got suspicious...
Bunnyboy: Doc: Don't drool. Walk inta Best Buy for a Best Buy.
Merlyn: wait, did it mess up just now?
cease: one of the few comedy series worth watching repeatedly
stephnfosterkane: no
Dr Headphones: well, i'll be a son of a duck....
Bunnyboy: cat: Crisp, clean, commercial-free.
Dexter Fong: Buddy Gazatchorn married Bunny Crumhunger you know
stephnfosterkane: I just set configure to 16 lines instead of 15 and it started scrolling again
Merlyn: well I put the skybird link so it opens a new window, so that might fix it
cease: bud bunny? the marijuana heir?
Dr Headphones: must be low res, klok? i'm running 30 lines myself
stephnfosterkane: Oh! No, I'm not clicking on the Skybird thing again; that's running fine
Dr Headphones: marijuana has hair? mine has always been bald
cease: you must be able to run the mile in 3 minutes, with all those lines
Bunnyboy: And...retrospective material. ANd commentaries.
Dexter Fong: They BLue Mossed Mark Time
Merlyn: it's the clicking that's the problem
Merlyn: As far as I can tell
stephnfosterkane: I can only show about 25 full screen, Ken, only running 1024x768; PITA for HDTV, but the old Zenith flat tension stuff never made it past 1280 and this one is unwilling up there.
stephnfosterkane: I'm OK for now, Merlyn, but I swear I didn't click the time it stopped just recently
doctectonic: bb: i'm not sure where there's a besy buy out here in the southern northeast corridor - have to go further noretheast to west haven, or cross border into ny
Dr Headphones: i can run 35 here, but then there is a scroll bar
stephnfosterkane: Tom - there's a Best Buy on Post Road in Milford, CT!!!!
Dr Headphones: i think i'm running 1280x960 but without going to desktop and doing some clicking, can't be sure
Merlyn: your bug reports aren't detailed enough to help
stephnfosterkane: go to BB website and do a store locator
doctectonic: milford? i thought it was west haven (further north)
Dexter Fong: Ken: YOu heard Merl, don't click
cease: the biggest birthday cake in the world to you, bunny, or kend, or whomever is calibrating
stephnfosterkane: Yeah, right DT
Dr Headphones: 1280x1024. i was wrong
Merlyn: no dex, that should be fixed now
Dr Headphones: i'm talented, dex, i can click and it doesn't bother me.
Dexter Fong: Thank you Merlyn
stephnfosterkane: that's the next standard 4:3 "click", I think, Ken, 1280x1024
Dexter Fong: Ken: That may be your dentures
stephnfosterkane: LOL Dex
Dr Headphones: i never just click the skybird link, i copy and then open winamp and paste the url in there
stephnfosterkane: aaagh. Skybird stopped
doctectonic: what is close to best buy on post rd? i shoot pool up there wednesdays - league there - oh btw, my monday league team won year-end regional finals (1st division, there are 3 in fairfield county) - http://www.doctecnhical.com/champs
Dexter Fong: EDW from Klok
Dr Headphones: yep, it stopped here also, but is back now
cease: congradulations, doc
Bunnyboy: The SCTV DVD release patern is very Lucasesque. They're starting with Season 4, Cycle 1 (of 3), the first NBC "Network 90" set, following with Cycle 2 in October, and so on. The booklet states their intention to release the half-hour eps (syndicated Seasons 1 through 3) AFTER the 90 minute eps.
doctectonic: we won anexpense paid trip to las vegas for the APA national amateur tournament
stephnfosterkane: Tom - I forget. I think it may be near Sam's Club on the N. side of Post Road
Bunnyboy: Congrats, DOc!
stephnfosterkane: ...and it isn't one of ours...love that
doctectonic: oops - typo in url - http://www.doctechnical.com/champs
Dexter Fong: Good Dope
cease: indeed, kane
Dr Headphones: doc, the link works when you reverse the "n" and "h"
cease: alien...people
doctectonic: sfk: sam's club is beyond milford - and orange - i think
stephnfosterkane: usually, these big retailers have store locator and direct link to Mapquest so as to get you there
Bunnyboy: My speling is gawn ta hell. Damn laptop!~
Dr Headphones: kudos, tom, great job!
Dexter Fong: Klok: Why don't you just tell me what's happening, then I won't need to listen..you're at least a minute or more ahead of me
cease: is the sam's in sam's club sam walton? we dont have that in canada, yet
doctectonic: the 'champs' are pretty wiped out after a 12-hour marathon saturday and another 8-hrs of pool shooting last weekend
stephnfosterkane: oh yes, agreed, DT. I don't quantify that all the way in towards NH; from the mall on, it's "Post Road in Milford", which means about 3-4 miles! Sorry...
doctectonic: thanks dr. h
Dexter Fong: Cat: Yes..walton
stephnfosterkane: the aliens win, Dex
Dexter Fong: Klok: Lakers?
stephnfosterkane: complain to your ISP, Dex. ;-)
doctectonic: sfk: np, it's not far from 'baja', lili's and my fave mexican restaurant - we go there every cinco de mayo if we can
cease: bergman's scene is one of the best in all of firesign
cease: they are being drowned, klok
Dexter Fong: Klok: I'm on cable but may be a function of Skybird, No?
stephnfosterkane: it's the box store/Price Club-type arm of Wal-Mart, Cat. They should hve one in LA somewhere; probably 10 of them for LA
doctectonic: it's a little further up post road than i usually have time for, but it's good to know a best buy is reasonably close (i.e. about 30 minute drive)
Dr Headphones: brazillian bees on here now, check your timing
cease: not in any of the malls i visited
Bunnyboy: "Margaret Meehan, Parkdale..."
Dexter Fong: Ken: YOu listenoing to that Air America commercial
Dr Headphones: i'm on skybird, not air america
cease: both on air, ether, either
stephnfosterkane only knows by heart how to spin off on Marsh Hill and get to CompUSA. Everything else is farther up Post Rd towards NH (BB, Ckt. City, etc.) somewhere ;-)
Dexter Fong: Bunny: Order me some of those Cabbage Rolls, please
doctectonic: i am making mp3s of missing shoe for ah clem to play, if he can get them off my site
stephnfosterkane: Dex, I don't know how the MP3 servers buffer; made a joke that the early birds are sooner in the queue, but I really don't know why. Perhaps Carnivore is digesting every byte you receive first ;-)
Bunnyboy: My mom sent me a coincident side-gift: A sampler tin of Jelly Bellys. They're good!
stephnfosterkane is getting jealous of BB
Bunnyboy: Might eat some while watching the funeral tomorrow.
Dexter Fong: Klok: I seem to recall clem saying something about queing
llanwydd: good night folks. see you next thirsty.
cease: look forward to the tape, llan
Bunnyboy: SHed a tear, y'all. He was our good ole doddering uncle.
stephnfosterkane: Well, don't listen to my explanations; I really am ignorant about it
Dexter Fong: Bun: Watch SCTV instead
Dr Headphones: doc: are there only 5 episodes of that?
Dexter Fong: Night Ilan
ah,clem: ...
stephnfosterkane will desperately look for some other entertainment tomorrow!
stephnfosterkane: nite Ilan
doctectonic: dr h: yeah there are 5 - i've encoded 1, am doing the others now
doctectonic: nite lan
stephnfosterkane: KCRW annoyed me no end by subverting their "music" web feed for additional broadcast of NPR's live coverage of Reagan's death
Dr Headphones: i already have them all as mp3, but he might be able to d/l from you a lot faster
Bunnyboy: nite llan
stephnfosterkane: and besides, I thought et tu, NPR?
Dr Headphones: but you're probably encoding them at clem's rate, so carry on. never mind....
Dexter Fong: Klok: It's just another monkey funereal, as the expression goes
Dr Headphones: wolfman!
Dexter Fong: Awhooooooooooo
Dexter Fong: Scary Stuff, kids
stephnfosterkane: Yeah, but surrounded by hoopla like it was OJ Simpson + Lacy Peterson thing. All channels, all media, all-Reagan all the time saturation bombing
Bunnyboy: Ooh! Check out the cover of this week's Stranger!
Bunnyboy: www.thestranger.com
Dexter Fong ponders this delayed listening experience and wonders if we were all stoned.....More scary stuff, kids
Dr Headphones: dex: let's do the time warp again
Bunnyboy: "My mother used to say, she said 'Ward...you're boring...y...you're a...very...dull kid."
stephnfosterkane reflects that the delay probably isn't at the server, but in your stars, Dex
cease: as dyaln thomas would say, everybody must get drunk
Dexter Fong: Ken; LOL and desperateluy searching for a reference in response
Dr Headphones: my mother used to say "did you take out the garbage yet?"
Dexter Fong: Bun: Didn't know your first name was Ward...mine is Ash
stephnfosterkane: it was bound to happen: NYT reported lit prof writes book on the depths of Dylan's lyrics...
Bunnyboy: Dex/Ash: How's your hand?
cease: my first year in university, prof gave us mr. tambourine man to analyze in enlish 200 or whatever it was called.
Dr Headphones: klok: how did he understand them first before he could analyze? ;)
cease: was the only person who didn't identify it as a drug song, so got the solitary good grade
Bunnyboy: I have tomorrow off. I'm actually considering an Evil Dead double feature.
cease: is it a national holiday, bun?
Dexter Fong: SSFK: Not so long after Thomas came to fame (and very quickoy thereafter, died) someone wrote an analysis of his poems, al la the Key to Ullyses (Joyce)
Bunnyboy: "This...is my BOOMSTICK!"
stephnfosterkane: hmpf 62-80 Detroit -- where's my frigging "Nightline"?
Dexter Fong: Ward/Bun: Why...wanna pull my finger?
Dr Headphones: 62-80 detroit was a hot time. i remember the riots there in the 60s
stephnfosterkane: ken - http://www.nytimes.com/2004/06/09/books/09DYLA.html?pagewanted=all&position=
Dexter Fong: Dey was 62-80 24/7 52/1
doctectonic: clem pvt mas
doctectonic: msg
Dr Headphones: is nytimes doing popups now? i opened that in new tab, heard the popup blocked sound
stephnfosterkane: in Marquette? Where is he normally? Why can't he do a remote and rlogin or something?
Bunnyboy: cease: It's a national day of mourning. Federal government offices closed, no mail, Federal Reserve open, some banks closed anyway. My worksite is open, but I had the day scheduled out anyway.
Dr Headphones: news flash: doctech just offered a private massage to ah, clem ;)
Dexter Fong: Private Mass for ah, clem............
||||||||| It's 12:00 AM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| llanwydd - dead from the fiddlers
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
stephnfosterkane: oh yeah, they pop me once a day; I turned off the sound! ;-)
Dexter Fong: Mr. ah,clem....Time for you confession
||||||||| Catherwood walks in wearing his pyjamas, yawns, and mumbles "It's midnight here in New York city"...then he falls over and starts snoring loudly..
Dr Headphones: skybird phone 906-233275? missing number?
stephnfosterkane: why does he need a directory if WE are calling HIM?
Bunnyboy: Dex: Didja mean Bruce Campbell's character in the EVIL DEAD series?
stephnfosterkane: 228
doctectonic: clem likely has his hands full at the moment
doctectonic: unless i miss my guess...
stephnfosterkane: i got 906 228 3275, Ken
Dr Headphones: and doc has answered correctly. tell him what he's won, johnny!
stephnfosterkane: you're not watching the video DT?
Dexter Fong: I know of Bruce, but didn't have him in mind ...I am perhaps, confused?
Dr Headphones: ears going bad in old age....
Dr Headphones: hi bill and bambi!
Bunnyboy: Dex: You invoked the name Ash? Pour qua?
stephnfosterkane: we've never seen bambi in chat...
Dexter Fong: Bun: Because it is my name, actually shortened version of Ashlan
Merlyn: I'm going to make some movie clips
Bunnyboy: Have fun, Merl
stephnfosterkane: yeah, Randolph Henry Ash, great author
Dexter Fong: Night Merl
||||||||| Merlyn departs at 12:04 AM, singing "Toad away, toad away; toad away, toad away! Where do you go when you're toad away?"
Dexter Fong: Hello Bambi
stephnfosterkane: is that an 'l' or a 'c', Ash?
Bunnyboy: Dex: Ah, I get it!
doctectonic: lili just got back, sent this link via IM
Dexter Fong: Klok: There is no "c" in Randolph
stephnfosterkane: just pulling your chain DT; there is no video of Skybird
stephnfosterkane: only when he's crossing the channel, Ash
Bunnyboy: I'm gonna go be indulged. Have a wonderful pageant!
Dexter Fong: Then what's that big thing flapping around the room
Dr Headphones: spacenet 6! we're beyond the atmosphere!
Dexter Fong: Night Ward =))
Dr Headphones: so long and HB bun :)
stephnfosterkane: we can't 'see' anybody in chat
stephnfosterkane: nite BB
Dexter Fong: Klok: Refresh your browser
Dexter Fong: Check your Monitor
Dexter Fong: The tv broadcast
||||||||| Catherwood says "12:07 AM, time for SOMEONE to leave!", grabs Bunnyboy by the collar and gives 'em the old bum's rush out the door
stephnfosterkane: i cannot see...watch out for me!
Dexter Fong: And we'll be back to "The Employment Agency on the Air" in just a minute
cease: by bun
doctectonic: nite bb
stephnfosterkane: make you crazier...
doctectonic: wow you could do fripp loops clem
stephnfosterkane: make you crazier...
Dr Headphones: i hear myself as if a LONNNNNNNG echo chamber
doctectonic: doodle dandy?
Dexter Fong: Klok *is* NOstrodamus
cease: are we on?
doctectonic: dr h: i bet
stephnfosterkane: lokked up again on me Merlyn
Dr Headphones: eat 'em, wipe 'em off, eat 'em again!
cease: i think merl is gone
Dexter Fong: Hi Ken
doctectonic: kiss bill? followup to kill bill?
Dr Headphones: doc: bill is into necrophilia maybe
cease: necrophillic motors! love your own death, in a chord 810
Dexter Fong: Well, this is quite fascinatin but parkin the car must be done, see you all...sooner or later
Dr Headphones: lol, cat!
Dr Headphones: happy motoring, dex
cease: by dex
Dr Headphones: it's dear friends 2-lp set, side 4, cut 2
Dr Headphones: helen reddy sang that. "i am root, hear me change positions!"
Dr Headphones: johnny rivers sang that. "midnight commander" :)
Dr Headphones: "tech tawk" on skybird
cease: i have no idea what any of this is
Dr Headphones: and a fond farewell to sfk on the air....
stephnfosterkane: cu dex
stephnfosterkane: family radio? youth sex?
cease: on parade
Dr Headphones: little black eagles
stephnfosterkane: Ken - http://www.8ung.at/spblinux/
doctectonic: clem pvt msg
Dr Headphones: i looked for that once recently, klok, couldn't find it. the 2-disk set you gave me quit working from floppies
stephnfosterkane: this is a rip-off of the end of Sonic Geology...
stephnfosterkane: ah, game over! TV returned to normal
stephnfosterkane: boom-boom vietnam
Dr Headphones: hi cat!
Dr Headphones: oh my, you really DO sound canadian!
stephnfosterkane: cat SQUARED!
stephnfosterkane: Ken - can you translate for us, please? I can't make it out...
stephnfosterkane: makes you want one of those computers with...3 screens
Dr Headphones: make it in, then
Dr Headphones: cat has some wonderful stuff :)
stephnfosterkane: well, it's easier to get in Vancouver
Dr Headphones: we should all have the same stuff :)
stephnfosterkane: with all the grow lamps, they pull more juice at night than Las Vegas
Dr Headphones: no grow lamps here, i'm stunted
Dr Headphones: pirate feed interceptor!
Dr Headphones: channel 85
stephnfosterkane: Yes, SUPER thanks to Clem for all his Skybird efforts!
Dr Headphones: llanwydd
Dr Headphones: hasta la canadien, cat!
Dr Headphones: 2 for 47 cents
Dr Headphones: ok, tom, it's your turn to call
cease: wow, on line and on speakers
Dr Headphones: yep, cat, it's weird hearing yourself as you were. the stream has moved on, you're not the same person then
cease: the wierdest thing about being on radio is how different one's voice sounds, in differnent audio
stephnfosterkane: the moving stream broadcasts, and having broadcast, moves on...
Dr Headphones: yes, i used to go nuts on the first day i worked at station, with headphones on
stephnfosterkane: that's dated! "NET"?
cease: not just car radio vs other radio, good stereo vs shit, but between cars, stereos, etc. my voice would mudlulate throughout the spectrum of speakers, it was scary
Dr Headphones: yeah, i remember that also. it's been PBS for a couple decades now
Dr Headphones: mudulate. i like that word!
cease: that's what happens, kend
Dr Headphones: hey tom! on the air
cease: neologisms didnt end with joyce and will survive gw bush
Dr Headphones: now if dex would just come back....
stephnfosterkane: how can he be in two places at once...
Dr Headphones: and bambi is a lot better looking than clem ;)
stephnfosterkane: back to back
stephnfosterkane: how are you getting the video, Ken?
Dr Headphones: i don't have any video on right now, but i remember the visit from last year
Dr Headphones: necessity sent me
stephnfosterkane: you had a visitation? did you fast, or pray or what?
Dr Headphones: and clem, thanks for finding the SAA on dear friends :)
doctectonic: wow what a treat
Dr Headphones: we did no fasting, no praying, but a lot of "whatting"
doctectonic: ah clem is kicking major ass toight
doctectonic: tonight
Dr Headphones: yep, doc, you're hitting that nail on the head
stephnfosterkane: yeah, fiber optic cable is only $165 per mile; we ought to borrow some when the telco isn't looking and take it to Va.
stephnfosterkane: super-major ass, 4 sure
doctectonic: ...with a swiss army chain saw
Dr Headphones: i left all my knives at home when i flew last weekend, but they confiscated matches from me. i had 5 books in my luggage, they said i'm only allowed 4, so they took one from me
doctectonic: lili asks me to pass along: "Frankly, I'm much more upset about the fact that Ray Charles died. He contributed much more to the happiness of people than Ronbo ever did."
stephnfosterkane: i bet we show up with hard hats, work clothes and a trencher, we can just plow along however many miles and nobody would ask questions (unless we hit a gas or water line...)
Dr Headphones: yes, lili is right.
doctectonic: and she passes along this url: http://apnews.excite.com/article/20040611/D834I1E80.html
Dr Headphones: klok: leave me out of this, i do still smoke. i'd blow us all up
doctectonic: (ap news article about ray)
stephnfosterkane: oh, there's a number to call, Ken. A couple really. One to stop smoking and one to find out where the gas lines might be.
Dr Headphones: faggy guys. very un-PC now. but i don't care
stephnfosterkane: it was in NYT and all over the evening news, Tom. I still think everyone should attempt to outnumber the Reagan crowd for Ray.
Dr Headphones: i heard the wheeze in the background there
stephnfosterkane: and it would be neat if the TV went to all-Ray for awhile! ;-)
Dexter Fong: Im back but away for a drink..whewww
doctectonic: sfk: couldn't agree more
stephnfosterkane: it's not good long-term, Ken
Dr Headphones: wb, dex. we've all called in except you now. the gauntlet has been thrown down
stephnfosterkane: Dex, did you call Skybird?
stephnfosterkane: thanks, Clem! love this piece.
cease: i wonder if ah clem would want to play one of the firesign, very anti-reagan pieces now? didnt ask but an obvious questoin since merl mentioned the ronald reagn murder mystery, early on the chat
Dexter Fong: Klok: No, been parking cars
Dexter Fong: Klok: Is that a thinly veiled request? =)))
cease: my parents revered reagan, and when we spoke on the phone last night, they were rapturous over the funeral. not about to play a firesign hey reagan tune, but they are not listening to this show
stephnfosterkane: park and lock it -- not responsible? cars plural; is this a new job or multi-vehicle family?
Dr Headphones: chevrolet bottler
Dexter Fong: Klok: Our car, and Wife's (Myrna) Agency Car
stephnfosterkane: it seemed appropriate, Dex, but your election ;-)*
stephnfosterkane: Oh, so you work for the Company, but she works for the Agency? ;-)
Dexter Fong: Coal!!
Dexter Fong: Klok: No she works for the agency and we keep each other Company
Dr Headphones: poon's farm
Dr Headphones: someone help my memory here. what lp/cd has the horizontal mountain climber on it?
Dexter Fong: Ken: Austins Tales of the Old...
cease: cia, dex?
Dr Headphones: tnx, dex
Dexter Fong: Cat: No, ciao
cease: actualy the new tom robbins novel is pretty good. told me more about the cia then seymore hirsh
cease: i loved that story
Dexter Fong: A Toamato
cease: the precipace of angels
Dexter Fong: Yes Cat:
Dexter Fong: One of my Favorites
Dr Headphones: more mole skin cookies!
stephnfosterkane: n.b. Tom, Cat - "Nightline" tonight is Ray Charles celebration
stephnfosterkane: I'll stick with the Skybird EVENT; sorry Ray...
Dexter Fong: Ken: Just wipe em off, you can eat 'em again
Dr Headphones: this caper will take more than two episodes to solve
cease: you guyus on the east coast get these lines minutes before me.
Dexter Fong: Big Bottle
stephnfosterkane: Cat - all the Robbins novels I've read (..Wayside..., ...Cowgirls..., ...Woodpecker...) had bad endings. He does all this stichk and then runs out of steam coming up to the wire
Dexter Fong: Cat: Klok and Ken get 'em days before me
Dr Headphones: is "fierce invalids" by him? if so, that's the only one i've read
stephnfosterkane: bald writers
cease: well, the same can be said of firesign, klok
Dr Headphones: octoglomerate
cease: you read that, kend? i just finished it.
Dr Headphones: last year, cat, very strange book, but i enjoyed reading it
Dexter Fong: Ken: Fierce Invalids = The English Patient on Steroids?
stephnfosterkane: I gave up after Still Life with Woodpecker, I think. Sorry, I don't agree there, Cat. Many FST works very organic.
cease: yeah, not that new. i just finished big lies and i'm still amid hunting the president. i always read many books at once
Dexter Fong: Cat: How do you keep your place
Dr Headphones: dex: could be true, but this one has a guy with a pyramid head (but not patchouli....)
stephnfosterkane: Dex - ah, so that's why the movie was so crummy
cease: robbins use of metaphor is at least as inventive as firesign, and some of his plots as well
Dr Headphones: baby shoes.... (swell the organ now)
cease: problem is he has to fill in hundreds of pages vs firesign tens of minutes, at most
Dexter Fong: And he does it alone
Dr Headphones: 212 minutes and still running :)
stephnfosterkane loves Robbins' hatchet job on Richmond at the beginning of Cowgirls
cease: and audio is not word. the only flick i've seen of his book, about the monster thumb, was a monstrous bummer
stephnfosterkane: 197 minutes on my klok here...
Dexter Fong: Jeeze, you guys time yourselves...Is it a contest?
stephnfosterkane: yeah, that movie got baaaad reviews. Nichole Kidman didn't apply, apparently
Dr Headphones: sit back and relax, mister fong.....
stephnfosterkane: Winamp has an elapsed time indicator, Dex.
Dexter Fong: Is it an adventure?
stephnfosterkane: I used it helpfully to tell Merlyn where the Skybird link thing messed up
Dexter Fong: 160:28
Dr Headphones: every day's an adventure when you're crazy....HAA HAA HAA HAA HA!
cease: how many nick dangers are there?
cease: i can think of at least 6
stephnfosterkane: yes, about a missing schu
Dexter Fong: Only one, Cat...only one
Dr Headphones: alexander graham acme
Dexter Fong: Cat Does the 6 include live performances of various mutations of ND?
cease: yes, they all blend together, like strange fruit in a fine punch
Dr Headphones: i prefer a coarse punch
Dexter Fong: Nitrous Oxide
Dr Headphones: hold the pizza
Dr Headphones: noah vail! never heard that before
Dexter Fong: That whole series of puns on meat and cooking always cracks me up
cease: let's see: this one, bride of frank, 3 faces of al, that video they did and the marlyand thing fred is selling, the original and i'm sure there are more from their live stuff
Dr Headphones: 906-228-3275, dex
stephnfosterkane: Anybody seen someone selling new copies of the Schwa World Operations Handbook?
cease: oh also the wonderful nick in australia thing phil did with michael packer. I love that!
Dr Headphones: i read that online years ago, klok
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 1 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
cease: the case of the missing yolks!
stephnfosterkane: OK, I lost my Skybird feed and now I'm in arrears with the new conexion, just like Dex...
doctectonic: thanks ah clem for playing missing shoe
Dr Headphones: the rousing tunes of "god bless armenia" in the background of gerald ford
cease: hey dex, you should call skybird. that'lll make All of us
stephnfosterkane: we should set up a confluence call!
doctectonic: so many files - so little thyme
Dr Headphones: klok, it's not confluent, it's conflatulent
doctectonic: fongster!
doctectonic: fongmeister!
Dr Headphones: we hit the quinfecta!
Dexter Fong: Hi Doc:
Dexter Fong: I'm live all over agin just like reagan might be
doctectonic: lol
Dr Headphones: if it's a bozo, do NOT squeeze the wheeze!
Dexter Fong: White Rabbitt
Dr Headphones: lol, this guy's funny!
Dr Headphones: fits in with firesign well
Dexter Fong: Ken: Which Guy
Dr Headphones: just listen, dex
Dexter Fong: Garry Firesign, The Seaker
cease: he does indeed
doctectonic: a kid gets hit by a school bus - something we like to call an 'accident'
doctectonic: that was hilarious
Dexter Fong: But some call it strange love
stephnfosterkane: bizarre
doctectonic: well it's good to know j.d. got a new car anyway
stephnfosterkane: was that Atom Egyptoyan?
Dr Headphones: klok: you hearing the guy who totalled his car?
doctectonic: this school bus is our school bus
Dexter Fong: Well, I really do gotta get out of here....It's been a really fun evening...Night all
stephnfosterkane: I was trying to perform a BMF while that caller was on...
Dr Headphones: i'm cracking up here over that call. glad he's not here
stephnfosterkane: nite Dex...
doctectonic: honduras - oooh, be the first on our block
stephnfosterkane: great show, Clem!
Dr Headphones: later, dex, take care
doctectonic: nite dex
doctectonic: tick tick tick
||||||||| Dexter Fong says "Catherwood, call me a cab." After the obvious joke, Dexter Fong exits at 1:10 AM.
cease: dex
Dr Headphones: i'm still here in government inflicted simulation for a while
doctectonic: if anyone has clem's email addy, please fwd privately
cease: you have done a great service here, ah clem
Dr Headphones: yes, clem, i have thoroughly enjoyed this evening!
ah,clem: thank you all
stephnfosterkane: ah, clem, this was magnificent
doctectonic: dept of redundancy dept
doctectonic: vino bros - one of lili's and my fave firebits
doctectonic: wino bros i mean
stephnfosterkane: saturday, saturday, saturday!
Dr Headphones: adieu, live clem, tell them to put you back into the can until saturday now :)
Dr Headphones: itch and sniff winner
stephnfosterkane: which is already in progress...
stephnfosterkane: most of the chatter can be corrected by aligning the front end...
Dr Headphones: toad away. what a sad song......
||||||||| Catherwood escorts Bubba's Brain in through the front door at 1:17 AM, picks up his cues (only slightly scorched), and heads for the billiard room.
Bubba's Brain: Yo Yo Yo
Dr Headphones: hey bubba!
stephnfosterkane: generally, the "chatter" is mounted midway in the central rack of the studio. sometimes it is a sealed unit; sometimes there are controls; sometimes there's a remote control box that plugs in...
Dr Headphones: you just missed your opportunity
doctectonic: clem pvt msg
Bubba's Brain: my opportunity?
stephnfosterkane: call 'em anyway, make 'em go back on...
doctectonic: sfk: it's clearly labeled, as i recall
Dr Headphones: ah, firesign done. alas and alack
doctectonic: gong but not faux gratin
stephnfosterkane: sometimes management will put tape over the label, though, DT
Bubba's Brain: ah
doctectonic: sfk: those damn pointy-haired bosses
stephnfosterkane: pirate radio!
Dr Headphones: bub: clem is at skybird studio, did show live, had call-ins
Bubba's Brain: ah....
doctectonic: hey brain
cease: that was amazing
stephnfosterkane: call 'im anyway, make 'im take it! ;-)
cease: ubbba, that was something lodestone would want to be part of
cease: that synergy with ah clem and the chat
Dr Headphones: i have now officially restarted "sacred love" by sting
Bubba's Brain: perhaps.... perhaps...
doctectonic: it *was* pretty remarkable
Bubba's Brain: ubbba dubbba
Bubba's Brain: so, who phoned in ?
Dr Headphones: interactive is always better than a "slide show" type
Dr Headphones: two people who weren't on chat, but 5 of us
Dr Headphones: dex and everyone else still here
Dr Headphones: of course, clem is on the other end of the phone, he participated in every call
Bubba's Brain: Well, I'm out here in MO today... in the roaming zone, and nearly away from the net....
Dr Headphones: ah yes, doc told us, i forgot about it though. old age does that to you....
cease: is this the midwest theatre thing?
Bubba's Brain: I'm out there at the audio theatre festival... past participants include DO and PP
cease: we were talking about it earlier with merl
Dr Headphones: good place for an audio entrepeneur to be, i'd think
cease: dsidnt do record a chapter of the ronald reagan mystery in this?
Bubba's Brain: Formerly was called "Midwest Radio Theater Workshop" but now called National Audio Theater Festivals... mostly same people though.
Bubba's Brain: yes, DO did RR mystery here many years ago.
Bubba's Brain: Yes, DrH... good place indeed.
Bubba's Brain: Only RR mystery these days is who approached Nancy from GOP...."Nancy its time to make a sacrifice for your party...."
Bubba's Brain: But then I'm paranoid.
Dr Headphones: wow, a conspiracy theory i haven't heard yet! i will pass along that rumor ;)
cease: i thought it was more recent, bub. in last 4 years, eh?
Bubba's Brain: Well. the timing couldn't be better for the GOP... they get an excuse to make people remember when republicans were loved, and parade around the ghost of Ronny at the convention.
cease: ossman plugging his new work. were you there? i've never been to that show but if i were more into radio as the only possibility, i would. thankfully, i've discovered others
Bubba's Brain: Nope, it was probably around 1990
stephnfosterkane: both of you?
Dr Headphones: during bush 41?
cease: i'll look it up in my collection. when is the reagan murder mystery from?
cease: i visited him with elayne in 96 and it was the first i heard of it
Bubba's Brain: Wasn't there the year of the RR mystery, but I was DO's assistant director when he did "Not Another Talk Show" starring PP
cease: the whole cycle of 40s, 50s 60s tirebiter mysteries
Bubba's Brain: He may be close to publishing the novel version, according to rumor.
Bubba's Brain: Although the timing of releasing "the RR Murder Case" right now.... hmmmm
Dr Headphones: you diversifying into print distribution too, then?
cease: he complained to me that young editors didnt know who he was. hopefully that's changed
stephnfosterkane: Merlyn - had another lockup (for the record)
cease: his kids are old enough to be his boss!
Bubba's Brain: If he builds it, I will sell.....
Dr Headphones: klok wins: dex 1, klok 2
Dr Headphones: that would sound good by the weekend bbc football (soccer) score announcer
doctectonic: i'm still here... barely
stephnfosterkane: actually three or four so far, Ken
Dr Headphones: ya did good tonight, doc
Dr Headphones: sending the regnad kcin to him
stephnfosterkane: you need to sleep, DT; we're just winding down! ;-)
stephnfosterkane: email going out shortly
Dr Headphones: yeah, it IS getting late. i'm up past my normal bedtime
stephnfosterkane: i took a screenshot while it was still hot & heavy w/my Fuji
doctectonic: i was glad i was able to contribute missing shoe to clem
Dr Headphones: but i still have 1/2 a pot of coffee to kill before i can go to bed....
Bubba's Brain: Shoes for the Industrius!
doctectonic: nah, don't need to sleep tonight - have to finish stuff for bubba, can catch up on sleep over the weekend
Dr Headphones: industrius was a roman proconsul, wasn't he?
Bubba's Brain: yes... he was known for his many accomplishments
Dr Headphones: proconsul is opposite of conconsul
stephnfosterkane: email to ken, clem, DT, ash, cat in flight
doctectonic: i'm going to sign off chat now so i can get some coding work done (bubba i'll keep aim up)
cease: i have really enjoyed this
doctectonic: thanks gang - fun session this week
cease: keep em flying, doc
Bubba's Brain: I'll be signing off as well....
doctectonic: see y'all on the funway
Bubba's Brain: Nytol
Bubba's Brain: Sorry I missed it.
doctectonic: nytol (zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzSKNXXzzzzzzzz..................
||||||||| Bubba's Brain says "Catherwood, call me a cab." After the obvious joke, Bubba's Brain exits at 1:41 AM.
||||||||| doctectonic leaves at 1:41 AM, singing "Oh, I'm just a little fishy, floating in the sea, and there ain't no hook that's smart enough to catch the likes of me..."
stephnfosterkane: nite Doc!
Dr Headphones: crap, i was looking at photo and missed the exits
Dr Headphones: good pic, klok, i snagged it
stephnfosterkane: a bit fuzzy; i was being quick since so much going on in the chat...and jpeg'ging it to 1/4 size didn't help
stephnfosterkane: (1/4 file size, not image size)
stephnfosterkane: you can see the EMP skin with the opacity set at 80%
Dr Headphones: instead of shooting the screen with camera, why not just hit "prnt-scrn" then open as .bmp?
Dr Headphones: yeah, i saw the "see through" skin there ;)
stephnfosterkane: and the "blue moss" mars rocks (false color image)
stephnfosterkane: can't do that Ken, since the opacity control on advanced winamp skins seems to be some kind of ActiveX video mode that "isn't there" for Prnt Scrn
stephnfosterkane: ditto the TV, esp. since ABC uses progressive scan, so it's 60Hz update rate
Dr Headphones: hmmm, i don't know much about a-x at all. i have it disabled in msie but then i never use that anyway
Dr Headphones: well, actually i do since it's the behnd-the-scenes program in both my aim buddy list and weatherbug
stephnfosterkane: gets real important for TV ;-) not sure what Winamp is doing for opacity, but I like it. They have fantastic options beyond static opacity, too, like "opaque on focus" and "opaque on hover"
Dr Headphones: will have to get those skins you told about earlier. i cut/pasted so i can refer later
stephnfosterkane: eats up gobs of CPU cycles, though -- using that skin in Winamp is noticeably sluggish
stephnfosterkane: the n-Log v1.02 looks like an old '70s stereo receiver, right down to the incandescent dial lamp glow. Lots less CPU overhead, too.
Dr Headphones: i don't normally notice slowdowns on anything until i've been up for many days. i usually reboot about once a week on xp. linux runs for months at a time until the electric flickers here and i'm forced to reboot
stephnfosterkane: yeah, it's solid. i've been trying to coax xmms to life under Mandrake v10 -- it supports Winamp skins, although I'm unsure how much fancy stuff works.
Dr Headphones: i ftp from one machine to the other through router, when avg speed falls below about 300K i know it's time to reboot
stephnfosterkane: initially, I thought skins were kind of childish, but due to the awful state of radio, it's just super to have a good tool to listen to net radio with!
Dr Headphones: i had to get complete rpm (rewritten) of xmms for redhat since they disable mp3 support
Dr Headphones: aside: this sting cd has line in it i love: "let's forget about the future and get on with the past."
stephnfosterkane: whatever for? is it some kind of security thing, or do they want you to buy the box version?
Dr Headphones: almost firesignesque
Dr Headphones: patent/licensing problems, so they say
stephnfosterkane: are the Republicans using that at the convention??
stephnfosterkane: oh, the Fraunhoffer MP3 license thing.
Dr Headphones: i guess there's a patch you can apply, but i don't know how to do that, just got the complete package *somewhere* else, not from redhat
stephnfosterkane: I was reading Bruce Perens' editorial in ZDnet today, about how all these stupid software patents may be a scheme to kill open source stuff
Dr Headphones: i installed as root, not sure what i have to do to make it work under other logins
stephnfosterkane: yeah, "lots of things not normally available in the state, check in the back and ask for..."
stephnfosterkane: wasn't sure you cared about other logins ;-))
Dr Headphones: btw, i really do like that korean jazz station you suggested. the first two i heard were kinda "sweet" but it got better. tommy emmanuel is great guitarist, caught one of his
stephnfosterkane: ur definitely a poster child for the security hole people! ;-))
Dr Headphones: well, i don't really, but some day i'll have a problem and learn my lessons ;)
stephnfosterkane: the fractured english on their site is a hoot, but the programming is first-rate, IMO
Dr Headphones: yeah, i've got all sorts of open ports on here, running both http and ftp server, probably got mail running and don't even know it, etc.
stephnfosterkane: want something different, try search for "Bombay Beats"
stephnfosterkane: and there's some comedy channels listed, may have FST
Dr Headphones: ah, indian music. i have some pakistani, like it. there was indian guy at guitar festival, custom-made "guitar" that was really more like sitar, had 35 strings
stephnfosterkane: the router ought to protect you
Dr Headphones: i think so, i only have a few "holes" open in it incoming. i can go out with anything, i think
Dr Headphones: i still haven't figured out what to open to make my webcam work on yahoo and aim, but i'm not losing a lot of sleep over it either. hardly ever used it when it did work
stephnfosterkane has been listening to the Nenes version of "No Woman, No Cry" in Okinawan, with a regional instrument that sounds much like a banjo. Is both a hoot and very touching version. Better than Albert Pla's version of "Walk on the Wild Side" in Basque with Gypsy girl chorus...
Dr Headphones: i suppose i could fire up ethereal then try the webcam, see what port it's accessing
stephnfosterkane has everything blocked ;-)
Dr Headphones: lol on that music selection!
stephnfosterkane: i used ethereal to find BBC RA details the other day, only to discover that newer streambots won't capture it anymore
Dr Headphones: when did that change? i have used streambox vcr up til about a month ago on bbc
Dr Headphones: haven't tried to d/l anything from there lately
stephnfosterkane: oh, I think the older versions still do it
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 2 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
Dr Headphones: i have an older version, supposed to be "illegal" now, but no one has to know i still use it, do they?
stephnfosterkane: it just got too messy. I also tried to get the timer plug-in to work in winamp, cause I want to record stuff while I sleep
Dr Headphones: goldwave has a timer built in, i have used that and it works well.
stephnfosterkane: i'll look for it
Dr Headphones: you can set a time or you can set a sound level, almost like push-to-talk button
Dr Headphones: when you get full version of goldwave, i can help you with the registry if you wish, so you won't get the nag screen all the time
stephnfosterkane: i just get so frustrated with Real and WMA material; it's a PITA just listening/viewing it
stephnfosterkane: yeah, need to get the full version of sleep now, though ;-)
Dr Headphones: i convert all my ra files to mp3. depending on bitrate, sometimes a larger file, but more easily played by anyone
Dr Headphones: ok, go to bed, see ya again, dear friend
Dr Headphones: cat and clem have faded away, so i'll mosey into the sunset also. aloha, log readers :)
stephnfosterkane: yeah, I'm not after archive; I just want to grab some for listening at a reasonable hour -- I'm glad to play them with the native whatever
stephnfosterkane: nite ken!
||||||||| stephnfosterkane says "Catherwood, call me a cab." After the obvious joke, stephnfosterkane exits at 2:04 AM.
||||||||| Dr Headphones says "Catherwood, call me a cab." After the obvious joke, Dr Headphones exits at 2:04 AM.
||||||||| It's 2:10 AM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| cease - dead from measles
||||||||| ah,clem - dead from the common cold
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| Catherwood enters, and announces to all and sundry "It's 4:32 AM, time to change the log file and clean out unused rooms; please exit the chat room for a minute or two. Thank you for your patience."
