A Firesign Chat

||||||||| Catherwood re-enters the Waiting Room and explains "This is the main discussion room which is logged each night."
||||||||| Catherwood announces, "The time is 4:33 AM - I now declare Thursday's chat log for February 17, 2005 officially open!"... and then, he retires back to the vestibule...
||||||||| Catherwood enters with Dr Headphones close behind, mutters something about disrupting his 8:56 PM tree-stunting plans, and runs off to the Aviary.
Dr Headphones: well, hello, again, dear friends. since no one is here yet, i'm going to read some email. will return in a few
||||||||| Merlyn waltzes in at 8:58 PM carrying an obsidian door knocker.
||||||||| Catherwood enters with doctec close behind, mutters something about disrupting his 8:58 PM tree-stunting plans, and runs off to the Aviary.
Merlyn: Hey doc
doctec: hi there
Merlyn: you're earlier than usual
doctec: got here early, will be taking a break in about a half hour, will be back at 10:30
doctec: i wanted to be here for dr. h's return
Merlyn: ok
Dr Headphones: hi merl, doc. yes, it's me, returned from the road for a few days
doctec: woo hoo
Dr Headphones: how's life treating you guise?
Merlyn: pretty good
doctec: it has its ups and downs - the trip to van to hang with cat and the side trip to seattle to see fst live was a gas
doctec: came back and it's been non-stop office work since
Dr Headphones: sorry i missed that chance. maybe next time?
Merlyn: yeah, that was lots of fun
||||||||| Catherwood strides in with a trumpet, plays a fanfare, and proclaims "Nine PM on Thursday, February 17, 2005 - I now declare alt.comedy.firesgn-thtre's chat officially open!"
doctec: also, evenings are full too - doing music track for http://www.doingagatha.com
Merlyn: they want to keep doing the tour if possible
Dr Headphones: i've been through minnesota once now, first time ever, and was in conn. for a few hours last week, but on a tight schedule and it was the middle of the night, so i didn't call you, tom
Merlyn: hey doc, did byron finally put in a clock-resync cron job?
doctec: (go to doing agatha home page and right-click to download the trailer - i did the music for it, it was my 'audition' for the gig)
doctec: merl: i think he and his new tide group guys have installed the new server
doctec: so time should be more accurate going forward
Merlyn: oh, ok
Merlyn: my wife is going to NYC next weekend (i.e. not the immediate one)
doctec: ftp file transfers seem to be faster and more reliable
Merlyn: my FTP jobs used to occassionally hang if doing a lot of small files
Dr Headphones: i got stuck in nyc during the recent blizzard. the spot i was was not to be desired. dead end road, next to asphalt/concrete plant. it sucked to sit there until monday when we got dug out
doctec: i ponied up a hundred bucks for one of those ati tv wonder usb things, i can finally watch tv on my pc while chatting in my basement
doctec: wow dr. h, that must have sucked
Merlyn: we've been kept posted on your lack of progress, 'phones
doctec: good thing you're not claustrophobic
||||||||| t.h.cecil enters at 9:05 PM as Catherwood takes their hat and goat and runs off to the Haberdashery Barn.
Merlyn: hey cecil where's beany?
doctec: help cecil help (nyaa aa aaaaaaaah)
t.h.cecil: hey how's everybody
Merlyn: I got over the flu
t.h.cecil: I'm a regular character here. Who can guess?
doctec: hanging in there cecil - you?
Merlyn: I'll guess "£"
doctec: merl: when did you come down with it?
Dr Headphones: good music, doc, i'm impressed! and yeah, it sucked. if one lonely 7-11 had not been open, we would have been hungry/thirsty all weekend.
Dr Headphones: hi cecil
doctec: a pound of dollars?
Merlyn: doc: just after getting back from LA
||||||||| Catherwood enters with Bambi close behind, mutters something about disrupting his 9:08 PM tree-stunting plans, and runs off to the Aviary.
doctec: merl: you looked pretty run down in seattle - helping out with the tour must have kept you hopping
||||||||| 9:08 PM: cease jumps out of the hall closet saying "I've been listening to all of you talking about me for the past hour!"
Dr Headphones: tom: have friend who is setting up own recording studio/special computer with 30 track capability, dual 10K rpm SATA drives, 1 G memory, etc.
t.h.cecil: Merl, if by the the double L you mean, you are...
Bambi: Howdy! Hey Ken! You made it!
cease: hey
Merlyn: yep, I was already pretty tired by then. hey bambi, cat
Dr Headphones: hey bambi! long time no see. kiss kiss hug hug. and a handshake for ah, clem :)
cease: is that you, kend?
doctec: dr. h: thanks, glad you liked it. also glad you have sustenance during your enforced hibernation
Bambi: hi Cat!
||||||||| Catherwood ushers ah,clem into the room, accepts a grimy quarter as a gratuity, mumbles something about 9:08 PM, then departs.
Dr Headphones: yes, cat, finally got home!
doctec: hey vat
t.h.cecil: hi cat!
Merlyn: and clem
doctec: er, cat
Bambi: Doctec, Merlyn, t.h.cecil too!
cease: hi bambi and ah
Bambi: hi ah,clem!
Dr Headphones: ah, the clem hisself
doctec: (sorry, got vat on my mind - we're adding vat tax to all our JUPM ecomm order forms)
cease: you're still pope of all vats
||||||||| New CNI streaming notice: '"A Few Minutes with Firesign Theatre"'
Dr Headphones: i was near you guys, went to va. bch and wmsburg several times in past month
t.h.cecil: anybody know who I am?
Dr Headphones: cecil: i'd guess llanwydd from the clue above
Bambi: how's everyone doing tonight? Been nice and warm here in VA ... but that's over for a bit now.
t.h.cecil: Which few minutes with which FS
cease: you're probably not austin
||||||||| Gusts of wind blow in from outside and the thumpa-thumpa-thumpa of helicopter blades is heard as Happy Panditt's chopper lands on the lawn and Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano disembarks at 9:10 PM.
t.h.cecil: You
ah,clem: sorry you missed us
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Hi ho, Kermit the Frog here!
t.h.cecil: You're right dr. h
doctec: nor are you *in* austin
Dr Headphones: bambi: snowing here, low to be about 10 or so. brrr! was in memphis on tuesday, 73 degrees
Dr Headphones: hey, jp
ah,clem: this is dear friends, side 3
t.h.cecil: rock me amadeus
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: How's it goin', Ken?
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: May not be here long - supposed to go see some friends in their new band
Bambi: brrr. Ken!
Dr Headphones: got it, bambi, tnx mucho!
Bambi: Hi Johnny
doctec: a rubber band?
||||||||| Elayne sneaks in around 9:13 PM, trying to avoid Catherwood because of last week's "unpleasant incident."
Bambi: Good deal Ken!
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Sorry, no, Doc - a BLUES band...
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Hi Bambi, need any meanness?
Dr Headphones: jp: things going well. mostly boring job, but a few moments of excitement/terror to keep me on my toes
Elayne: Evenin' all!
doctec: johann: that's cool bro - can blue men sing the whites?
Dr Headphones: hi, e
doctec: hi elayne
t.h.cecil: Hi Elayne!
Bambi: well, they say not to be mean to Bambi, cuz she likes it that way
Dr Headphones: doc: heard a country band one time do a song titled: "help me, i'm white and i can't get down".
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Ah, adrenalin...keep 'em flyin', Ken
doctec: did you see that lodestone is selling more licence plate things?
t.h.cecil: anyway you like it bambi
doctec: dr. h: good title!
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Evenin', Elayne
||||||||| budgie enters at 9:14 PM as Catherwood takes their hat and goat and runs off to the Haberdashery Barn.
Bambi: hi Elayne!
Elayne: Budgie! What are you doing up at this hour?
budgie: Evenin' Elayne...
Bambi: lol
t.h.cecil: Hey Budgie!
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Yeah, I have to get one of those Ralph Spoilsport license frames...
Dr Headphones: jp: worst was driving during the day and see the terrain i had been through the night before. sheer drops of hundreds of feet just inches from side of road. damned near sh*t my pants when i saw that in the daytime
budgie: Heading for bed in a few minutes, but thought I'd see if you were around.
Elayne: It's like 2:20 AM there!
Dr Headphones: hey budgie
Elayne: Oh, I'm about as round as they get, Budgie, but you knew that.
budgie: yeah, but when do I EVER go to bed at a sensible hour?
Dr Headphones: a european? how ... continental :)
doctec: budgie: you in the u.k.?
budgie: Delightful chat with Robin the other evening, by the way.
t.h.cecil: 2:20 where, elayne?
Elayne: Robin said you called the other day; sorry I missed you! Calls from England are still exciting to me. :)
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: I can dig, Ken - I remember driving thru the mountains from Montana to Colorado in December of '82 in the dead of night...ugh!
budgie: Yeah, doctec - in London.
Bambi: FYI: As usual...If/when we redial ... please bear with us as we regain the stream
Bambi: hi budgie
doctec: well then: 'allo, 'allo!
budgie: Ah, but did he pass you the message about Phil's Valentine?
Elayne: Robin said he thought you sounded way too much like him (inflection, etc.), so I guess we both have "sound alike twins" now.
doctec: please don't tell me your uncle's name is bob...
Elayne: Bambi, the streaming audio seems to be working fine so far.
Elayne: Yes, Budgie, he told me about that. I smiled a lot.
budgie: Well, Paul Storrie once described my voice as "Michael Caine on an off day", so...
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Bob's yer uncle?
cease: hi el
Elayne: Aw geez, it's "pile on the Brit" time now, innit? :)
budgie: doctec - no, only uncle I have is named Jeff, sorry.
t.h.cecil: You mentioned London, budgie. I'm dying to know
Elayne: Hey Cat, I just put in for my vacation days for when you're scheduled to be up here, so my time is now free!
cease: wow. thanks, el
budgie: Elayne - in the words of the Haggada, "why should this night be any different?" :)
Elayne: We should definitely go up to Tom and Lili's that weekend if they're free. (What say, Tom?)
doctec: budgie: i'm very relieved to hear that... thanks
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: I heard your time was expensive, E
||||||||| Catherwood enters with HouseTweeny close behind, mutters something about disrupting his 9:18 PM tree-stunting plans, and runs off to the Aviary.
Elayne: Don't confuse them, Budgie, they're just getting used to you being British, throw in Jewish too and their heads will explode...
HouseTweeny: (better than a Field Tweeny)
Dr Headphones: cat, i'd try to come see you, but the truck i drive is too big to get into canada. they have wheelbase restrictions there, i guess.
Bambi: hi Tweeny
doctec: we're not free - we're expensive! (ah, but of course - we're both looking forward to it!)
Elayne: LOL, Johann!
t.h.cecil: hey tween!!
Dr Headphones: hi tweeny
cease: i'll be in washington dc and nyc in may, kend
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Damn, have I said how nice it is to be back here?
cease: i jsut heard from john gurvitch today, wondering if i was going to visit him up there in mass
||||||||| Catherwood enters with Bunnyboy close behind, mutters something about disrupting his 9:19 PM tree-stunting plans, and runs off to the Aviary.
Dr Headphones: cat, been both places now, have absolutely no desire to return to either.
Bunnyboy: lo dere
Elayne: Kend, can you get over Yonkers-way? You can stay with us instead of in motels... only problem is, no place around here to park a truck...
HouseTweeny: Wouldn't you like to raise the level of your living room?
doctec: hey bb
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Bun!
t.h.cecil: I'll bet kend will be in those places often
Elayne: Wow, Cat, John Gurvitch, I haven't heard that name in awhile!
t.h.cecil: hey bunny!
Dr Headphones: e: was out at jfk during the blizzard, got stuck there sat-monday. not sure if we went near yonkers or not. i wasn't driving and didn't want to
doctec: i haven't seen dr. jawn in ages - he turned me on to teton glacier vodka, great stuff!
Dr Headphones: and motels? don't know what they are. i have bed behind driver's seat
Elayne: No, JFK is in Queens, it's about an hour and a half drive away, probably 3 hours in a blizzard...
cease: bunny, did you see yourself on the seemreal site?
HouseTweeny: Bring the family around the hi-fi?
Bunnyboy: Elayne: Didja see PROMETHEA #32? Wowsers!
Dr Headphones: bun! howzit hangin?
cease: doc, are you going to post any of your pics? merl? did you take any pix, bun?
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Ken, the big question is does your rig look just like the icon?
Elayne: I don't think I got issue #32 yet, Bunnyboy. I get the DC comp box once a month, so I don't buy any of the comics they publish, I wait for the comps.
Elayne: Budgie, did you read that issue?
Dr Headphones: jp: let me find a pic online real quick, will post URL for you. brb
t.h.cecil: Who composed "Bedaze the Fountain"? I thought I used to know.
Bambi: Hi Bunny!
doctec: cat: on my to-do list - i'm so swamped right now, it's hard to find a spare moment. it's been non-stop since i got back from north van.
Merlyn: cat, I added a couple of framegrabs from the after-show toast in LA on the tour photo page
Bunnyboy: cat: Yes, I saw the mpeg. Fortunately, all my pictures are in my head.
Elayne: "Bedaze?" I'm pretty sure it's "Bidet's"...
Bunnyboy: Well, hiya Ken!
doctec: t.h. cecil: actually, it's bidet's "the fountain"
doctec: so it by bidet
budgie: sorry, Elayne - which issue?
doctec: it's
HouseTweeny: Be dayz the fountain of youth on parade.
Bunnyboy: Yeah, doc, Merl. Any eggs for Fats?
Dr Headphones: http://www.peterbilt.com/index_gal_mod_desc.asp?model=model379
Elayne: Budgie: Promethea #32. Bunnyboy said "Wow" about it.
t.h.cecil: or was it "bidet's the phountine"
Bunnyboy: Elayne: Do you know the deal with PROMETHEA #32?
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Holy crap! That's a big sumbitch!
Dr Headphones: jp: got it, page open, will listen later. tnx
cease: i just heard from richard arnold today, looking forward to meeting me in dc
HouseTweeny: You still want a Cummins, Dr. H.
Elayne: I'm afraid I don't, Bunnyboy. Or maybe I knew and forgot...
budgie: no, gave up on Promethea about issue 13, I think
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Cool beans. Ken - been workin' on the new album - read the blogs on the MySpace page.
Elayne: Very cool, Cat! Give that redhead a big hug from me!
Dr Headphones: tweeny: got the big cat engine in it, terrible mpg but great power
cease: does he have red hair, el? i have no idea what he looks like.
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Would that red hair be parabolic in display?
Dr Headphones: tween: did pick up 14 cummins engines at their jamestown ny plant, those combined weighed more than the entire truck and empty trailer combined.
Elayne: Yes Cat, flaming red hair, close-cropped as I recall.
cease: and his new family, el. i gather you havent met them
t.h.cecil: I was in DC just a year ago. in the bus terminal. on my way to florida
cease: just trailing a red, with red hair!
Elayne: No Cat, I think I knew Richard when he was still single. Gah, we're all getting so old!
Bambi: Ken does your rig a sleeper?
Dr Headphones: parabolic hair? better than hyperbolic, i suppose!
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Doobie doo wah
Bunnyboy: El: #32 is Alan Moore's swan song, the last issue, and some of his last comix work. It's also formatted in a non-narrative\multinarrative fashion...
Dr Headphones: bambi: yes, actually 2 beds, but with only one person, i keep the top one folded up.
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Parabolic, a la Larry Harmon
Bambi: (Can't look at the webpage right now ... bandwidth limitations during remote hosting)
t.h.cecil: if he had red hair, who would he be, cat?
Elayne: Ah, okay Bunnyboy. Well, Alan says it's some of his last work but pardon my intense skepticism. He'll be back.
Bambi: cool
budgie: I just got tired of being preached to in Promethea; if I wanted to go to school, I'd go there...
cease: the league of red headed men?
cease: hemlock stones, i presume
Elayne: Although he certainly doesn't need the money any more, I'd imagine.
Elayne: Just so, Budgie!
Dr Headphones: and if i get anyone else in the sleeper, it better be a female and she will share my bed ;) but no lot lizards for this guy. if i want a disease, i'll stick to getting one free, won't pay for it
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Here, please copy this encyclopedia
Elayne: It's like, "yes fine, you have lovely lofty ideas, can you please tell me a STORY now?"
Elayne: Bunnyboy, Budgie is also a published comic book writer, by the way. Been doing some X-Men stuff of late.
doctec: shadow valley high school, if you took classes here, you'd be asleep by now
HouseTweeny: Am I a second story man?!
Elayne: Tweeny, I haven't heard your FIRST story yet, so you could be a little flat.
cease: are you going to the ossman electfrician/dwarf shows on whidbey, bunny?
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Eat it now, the burning cow - mad about that beef!
Bunnyboy: It's 32 pages, no ads, and it reads one way if you go cover to cover. You can also pop out the staples, arrange the pages in a different set order, and experience the piece in a 2-sided poster format and different order. PLUS, there are 2 gigantic Promethea images that are only discernible in the posterized format.
Dr Headphones: bambi: i remember you saying something once about "the day the earth stood still". i just bought the dvd tonight for my personal library.
cease: i just heard from mark time. he's taking his son
doctec: wow, i guess that'd make budgie about three degrees from kevin bacon
HouseTweeny: Just another gov't tweeny...
doctec: not bad at all
Elayne: Geez, Promethea, that hardly sounds like a story to me.
t.h.cecil: That's great! I have actually read "The League of Red-Headed Men" and every other Sherlock Holmes story and novel.
Elayne: I mean, geez, Bunnyboy, Promethea hardly sounds like... oh, never mind.
budgie: doctec - six degrees actually... (yeah, I worked it out)
Dr Headphones: llan: i read them all during jr. high school. should go back and do it again
doctec: day the earth stood still is a great flick!
Bambi: I love that movie Ken!
Bunnyboy: El: It's quite literally titled WRAP PARTY.
Elayne: How many degrees are we from Kevin Bacon if we know Phil Proctor? Anyone ever figure that out?
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Klaatu barada nikto
Bambi: one of the best all time classic scifi movies, IMHO
Dr Headphones: doc: such a thinly veiled story about commies
cease: proc knows Everybody
cease: he's probably done their voices
Elayne: Oh, I love The Day The Earth Stood Still, Tom. I always wanted to be Patricia Neal in that movie, only I'd have gone off with Klaatu.
HouseTweeny: Gazzuneheit...
Bambi: good memory Johnny
Dr Headphones: i got the 30th anniversary edition of "blazing saddles" also. damn, i'm skimming all the cream off the top for my collection ;)
doctec: i'm sure proc was either in a movie or did voiceover work in a movie that starred someone who knows or has worked with kevin b.
Elayne: "Literally," eh Bunnyboy?
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Calling occupants of interplanetary craft...
Bunnyboy: There's also a limited 1000 print run of the issue in poster format, with a 48 page book of all the Promethea covers. 50 bucks.
Elayne: There you go, Tom, that's probably 2 degrees away, then.
doctec: ...then they could have done the 'klattu and you' sequel?
Elayne: Hey, ahClem is giving us all name checks, cool!
t.h.cecil: kend, the novels too, like "The Sign of Four"
Dr Headphones: jp: you speaking of the carpenters song? i actually own that one! yeah, schmaltzy for the most part, but still great vocal harmonies
Bambi: hard to believe it's been 30 years since Blazing Saddles was done
doctec: i'd rather have the cash thanks
Bunnyboy: Phil Proctor to Chevy Chase to Steve Martin to Kevin Bacon. But that's a long string.
Bambi: there are some other miles stones coming up very soon too
budgie: Elayne. Bacon => Kevin Pollack => Bryan Singer => Patrick Stewart => Warren Ellis => Budgie
Elayne: Blazing Saddles is so wonderfully quotable!
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Actually, Ken - it was written and performed first by the Canadian group Klaatu
Elayne: Meh, Budgie, too many degrees, we have to be able to cut those down a bit...
cease: i remember them
HouseTweeny: Ground contol to major tom. That's wakeman.
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: hence the reference
Dr Headphones: wow, jp, i HAVE learned something new today now!
t.h.cecil: that man is a ni....
doctec: e: that's six degrees so it qualifies
ah,clem: any Ideas for the next movie? (if I have it, I'll play it)
doctec: rick wakeman?
budgie: Elayne - not if you limit it to people who have actually MET.
Elayne: What's the connection between Patrick Stewart and Warren? Or is that all in Warren's mind?
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Wakeman on Mellotron
HouseTweeny: Give up this day...
doctec: johann: ah, yes...
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: I'll introduce you to Warren...
HouseTweeny: Spiders from Mars w/Amazon Women
doctec: mellotron, the first 'sample playback' keyboard - know it well
budgie: Ellis went to lunch with Stewart (Warren's agent set it up), Stewart's a huge TRANSMET fan
Elayne: Oh, no thanks Johann, I've been introduced to Warren plenty enough for me, thanks.
t.h.cecil: wasn't Klaatu the band that was rumoured to be the Beatles?
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Don't forget the Chamberlin, doctec
||||||||| Catherwood leads WCGuy inside, makes a note of the time (9:34 PM), then fades off into the distance going on about the waiting room or the sitting room or something.
Elayne: Hello WCGuy!
Dr Headphones: hi john
doctec: good morning, good afternoon or good evening - it's so difficult to tell, when you're locked in a tiny room with artificial light
WCGuy: Evening all
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Correct, Cecil!
t.h.cecil: hi wc
cease: and speaking of rice...
Bambi: hi WCGuy
Merlyn: hey john
budgie: Anyway, heading for the land of nod, before the missus comes a'huntin...
WCGuy: uh oh, whaddid I miss?!
HouseTweeny: Any man that hates chldren & pets can't be all bad...
doctec: johann: didn't the chamberlin preceed the mellotron by a short period of time?
Dr Headphones: rice? uncle ben's for me, please
Elayne: Okie-doke, Budgie, talk to you soon (I hope)!
Bunnyboy: lo WC
Dr Headphones: budgie: good to meet you, take care over there in blairland
t.h.cecil: who just came in?
cease: anybody know why the firesigns weren't invited to perform at aspen?
HouseTweeny: Vintage Keys Plus. Both kinds of music.
||||||||| Catherwood enters with Hal close behind, mutters something about disrupting his 9:35 PM tree-stunting plans, and runs off to the Aviary.
doctec: i read a web page about it - apparently, there's some people who say the guy who made the mellotron ripped off the design idea from the guy who made the chamberlin
cease: would have been a perfect end to their tour, and austin could drive to his home state
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: My understanding is that Harry Chamberlin's idea was "borrowed" by the Englishmen responsible for the Mellotron
doctec: bye budgie
HouseTweeny: Dave...
doctec: i'll see if i can dig that up
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: The Chamberlin sounds better
Bambi: Hi Hal
Dr Headphones: hi hal
Bambi: bye budgie
Hal: Greeting all
t.h.cecil: hal, have you been here before?
Elayne: Hello Hal!
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: I have lovely Mellotron samples in my Kurzweil
doctec: in any case, i have to temporarily disembark from this runaway train - have some stuff i have to take care of here before it gets too loate
Elayne: Bye Tom!
WCGuy: be well, doc
Dr Headphones: blind dave? anyone heard from him lately? we used to chat all the time on AIM, been missing him lo these many weeks
Elayne: Tom, let us know when y'all have a free weekend, we'd like to drive up and say hi!
doctec: i will stay logged in, i should be back in an hour or so. to all who depart between now and then: nytol!
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Hal, could you sing "Daisy" for us?
Dr Headphones: ok, tom, kiss lili for me, please
cease: later, doc
Hal: It's been a while t.h.c.
cease: yes, dave was here last week, kend
Elayne: I think Dave was here either last week or the week before, Dr.H
cease: the first time ina while
Bunnyboy: nite doc!
t.h.cecil: see you in a while doc
Hal: I only sing in the shower and on the drive to work
HouseTweeny: First time in a whistle.
WCGuy: you shower on the drive to work?!
Bambi: well, actually ... does anyone have a Firesign Theatre request
HouseTweeny: He walks again...
cease: yes tween, you havent been here in a while, as i recall
Dr Headphones: hal: probably a smart move if you're like most amateur vocalists. i know i'll never do karaoke again ;)
cease: not that that's something i do very well
t.h.cecil: Well, who can guess where I got my monicker
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Oh, wrong Hal...thought you were that damned computer...
Bambi: night Doc
HouseTweeny: Everything You Know Is Wrong!
cease: everytyhing you know is wrong, bambi
Dr Headphones: tween: great choice for sure
t.h.cecil: everything I know is write
HouseTweeny: i swear I'm not a drinkin' man on duty.
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: EYKIW is always a good choice
cease: i know austin and ossman considered IN the Next World to be part 2 of Everything, although i never saw it
Bunnyboy: Proctor to Howard Hessman to Kevin Bacon. That's one short line.
Hal: My niece Rachel Williams can sing though. www.rachelwilliamsmusic.org
cease: i just found my copy of Everything You KNow about the Future is wrong, the atc thing they did that led to the recent albums
Elayne: Great Bunnyboy! That makes me (and Cat, and most of us) four degrees removed, and cut Budgie down from six to five...
Bambi: Ok, I let ah,clem know ... thanks for the request
Merlyn: OK, the IMDB doesn't show any movies that have both Phil Proctor and Kevin Bacon, but you can do it with Robert De Niro: Procmer in "rocky & bullwinkle" -> De Niro in "sleepers" -> Kevin Bacon
||||||||| It's 9:40 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| budgie - dead from the fiddlers
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Austin & Ossman developed a lot of material about the Heater/Hellmouth area in Crawdaddy as I recall
HouseTweeny: Unknown!
Bunnyboy: Merl: Your da wiz!
t.h.cecil: I'm not able to tune in to that CNI thing. how does it sound?
WCGuy: Just a quick stop-by, folk. See ya around campus.
Johann Amadeus Matetsky Piano: Whoa, Bun...The Wiz would be Bergman!
Bunnyboy: oop, "You Are, you're, A-OK, Mark"
Bunnyboy: nite WC
cease: see ya, wc
Merlyn: bye john
HouseTweeny: Sorry, I've got XM on the brain. Just how many subscriptions would it take to get Firesign back on XM? (serious)
Bambi: what OS are you using cecil?
cease: did you take any pix, bun?
Bambi: night WCGuy

stephnfosterkane: well, Roto sounds content all that matters
||||||||| Outside, the 9:49 PM downtown bus from Funfun Town pulls away, leaving Bozoette coughing in a cloud of diesel fumes.
stephnfosterkane: hey, Fran -- will get to the blog shortly, kinda in overlode at moment
cease: too bad i'm not going to virginia this trip, bambi. i was in williamsburg my last east coast tour
Dr Headphones: jp: it's off the interstate a ways, but worth the trip. at the end of the tour you get all you can drink. unfortunately, it's a dry county, so it's all the lemonade you can drink

Bunnyboy: kane: Well, the West Coast is, technically, left field. ; )
cease: screech?
HouseTweeny: Bozoettes always spend their time on the Nj Turnpike. We've all come to look for America (Yes).
stephnfosterkane remembers the first time he saw the drive thru MD liquor places on 301 S. of Waldorf and began to fear for his life
Rotonoto: a Beany & Cecil derivation?
Bunnyboy: Leech and Bleach?
Rotonoto: Bozoette is from CA, actually

Bubba's Brain: Howz y'all tonight
t.h.cecil: does his probation officer find out if he's been near stoned people?
Dr Headphones: ok, i'm back. had phone call, missed all the exposition here.

HouseTweeny: Still know something about dolphins dancing in a fountain, Bubba?
Bubba's Brain: Adam 12?

cease: you probably havent heard my play Red Shift, thc
Dr Headphones: a buddhist sympathizer? that makes it sound like they are *subversive* or something. where's joe mccarthy when we need him?
Bubba's Brain: There's dolphins dancin in the fountain at the center of the IU campus here in Bloomington....

Dr Headphones: bub: i was in bloomington night before last. spent the night at exit 160, TA truck stop
stephnfosterkane: maybe clem will play Red Shift on CNI sometime
Elayne: I wasn't that thrilled with one of the strips, Bunnyboy. Not fond of people equating "fat = eating too much" as if all fat people eat "too much" and all thin people don't...
HouseTweeny: IU/UT, what the difference once the head's blown off?
Dr Headphones: roto: i'm sure i would enjoy that chance :)
t.h.cecil: I'm DYING to hear your play, Cat
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 10 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
Elayne: Zonker always struck me as a character who'd be a little sensitive to stuff like that.
cease: there are lots of them. which one, thc?
Elayne: Oop, 10 o'clock, I should be going.
Bubba's Brain: Which Bloomington, Dr. H? Indiana, IL, or MN

cease: red shift is buddha's tale, as filtered through south park
HouseTweeny: Bye E.
||||||||| Elayne leaves at 10:02 PM, singing "Oh, I'm just a little fishy, floating in the sea, and there ain't no hook that's smart enough to catch the likes of me..."
Bubba's Brain: I'm in IN.
cease: e
Bozoette: nite E
Dr Headphones: ah, just one state away....

Bubba's Brain: I'm not out.... still closeted.
cease: you;'ll have to talk to doctec about that, cecil.
t.h.cecil: are you innuit? I'm Innuendo
cease: if his name is on the credits, he's there. otherwise not, bambi
Bambi: we'll have to look at the CD cover you sent...we have it digitized so we don't usually look at the cover
cease: i misspelled a couple of folks and had to redo credits once before
Merlyn: Inuit or Inuain't My Baby
cease: i misspelled bunnyboy, actually
HouseTweeny: Miss Information...
Dr Headphones: well, let's win one for the gipper!
t.h.cecil: LOL!!! Merl!

cease: nino, that's a name from another era
t.h.cecil: I'll try it, bunnyboy but I don't know
Bambi: bet it feels good to be home for a bit Ken
Dr Headphones: yeah, my king sized heated waterbed beats hell out of sleeper in truck
HouseTweeny: Ronnie and Phil's Wall of Shroud
stephnfosterkane: (for those unable to chat & listen to CNI, we're at the Nino the Mind Bender segment of In the Next World...")
t.h.cecil: anybody like french films?
Dr Headphones: bambi: besides the bed, i showered in my own bathroom and did laundry in the basement without feeding quarters into the machines
cease: i loved amelie
Bunnyboy: thc: It's an MP3, if memory serves.
HouseTweeny: Down by the Wabash...
stephnfosterkane: sounds pretty suspect to me, cecil -- are you a plant from the weasels?
t.h.cecil: I'm just watching "Fanny", which follows "Marius" which I saw just a few weeks ago.
Dr Headphones: speaking of weasels, i missed running over a skunk by just a few inches the other day.
HouseTweeny: Fields of plenty, as long as it's Sally.
Bambi: now that would feel good Ken LOL ... nothing like home
stephnfosterkane: Oh yeah -- ken, did you get any Chinese food yet??? ;-))
Hal: driving the big rigs these day's ken?
Bunnyboy: kane: That's a great idea! Descriptive services for the technologically disadvantaged.

Bambi: you can also get a direct listen.pl link on http://www.cniradio.com
stephnfosterkane almost ran over a Muskrat coming into his driveway this evening. First one I've ever seen, up close and personal. Got out and chased it into the yard. Ugly sucker.
Dr Headphones: hal: yes, a new career for me. mostly i'm enjoying it
Dr Headphones: llan: driven in 31 states, rode through 3 more with someone else driving
stephnfosterkane is rendered massively famished but will keep on typing for a few minutes before running to kitchen for a sec...
Bubba's Brain: was it muskrat susie, or muskrat sam?
t.h.cecil: I envy you kend
HouseTweeny: All you can eat Buffett: http://pri.kts-ae.net/redir/index.pls?esid=df503cc9035b179214926c5d90c5e48f&url_no=1&client_id=3&uid=8a41714172e8ac91852dce486be5a315&clicksrc=xml
Dr Headphones: wow, bubba, didn't know anyone here was capt. and tenille fan besides me. well, i'm a fan of her more than him.
Bunnyboy: Feeding together on musrat lamb...
Bambi: also if we moved it up, we couldn't stream it remote from dialup ;-)
stephnfosterkane lost his beloved Zenith flat tension-mask monitor last week and is struggling along with old 15" CRT now
Bubba's Brain is not sure he'd use the word "fan."
stephnfosterkane: not fun as I've set the chat to 20 lines to see the action and my eyes ain't so hot to begin with at 17"
||||||||| Catherwood enters with lililamont close behind, mutters something about disrupting his 10:10 PM tree-stunting plans, and runs off to the Aviary.
Bunnyboy: kane: Condolences re: monitor.
Dr Headphones: well, i lusted for her body. maybe that's not the same as being a fan, huh?
HouseTweeny: Yo, Lili...
t.h.cecil: hey lili!!!
Dr Headphones: speaking of lust, hey lili
Bunnyboy: lo Lili! Didja know yer a movie star?
lililamont: Hello, all. Have I missed much?
Bubba's Brain: hey lil
HouseTweeny: Put a saddle on that burka.
Bambi: count me in with the Capt and Tenille fan group too LOL
Dr Headphones: lili: you missed ALL the exposition
lililamont: Bun: Really? What movie?
Bambi: hi lili!
Bubba's Brain: okay... lust I understand
stephnfosterkane got to see Lili and DT and the guys and Bunny and a buncha folks in Cat's video. Great stuff, too bad only 2 min.
lililamont: Damn, Dr. H. I was preparing dinner for one.
Bunnyboy: Which means nothing but action from now on.
HouseTweeny: Ah, the vinelands of Nova Scotia...
Bunnyboy: lili: Check out cat's site - www.seemreal.com
lililamont: I'm ready for my closeup, Mr. DeMille.
Dr Headphones: ah, clem talks over the record :)
lililamont: I will. Thanks, Bun. Where's Doc?
Hal: Is Nova Scotia any where near Nova Cane?
Dr Headphones: doc was here and gone, and said he would return
cease: a lot of it incoherently held camera, klok. annoying to watch
Bambi: lol
HouseTweeny: Kane!
Bunnyboy: He had to do some "stuff", said he. He was here about 10 minutes ago.
lililamont: Hmmmm... I'll have to buzz him in his basement.
stephnfosterkane: yeah, and Lili kept obscuring the FST guys... (just kidding, Lili)
ah,clem: forgot that ending, sorry, Ken
HouseTweeny: Champaign from northern Indiana.
Bubba's Brain: They were always a bit obscure...
stephnfosterkane: hal -- any relation to the UK news presenter, Annanova?
Dr Headphones: champagne for my real friends, real pain for my sham friends?
stephnfosterkane: yes, Tween, I'm hear
cease: they reward you for your esoteric knowledge, bub
Hal: sfk: "I don't Know"
cease: good one, kend
Bunnyboy: kane: And the guy with the big ol' grin was me.
Dr Headphones: cat: not original, not sure who said it first.
stephnfosterkane: one of my faves, Hal, up there with Dajit Dahliwahl and Lara Croft (I think Dajit is probably real, though)
Dr Headphones: w.c. fields? woody allen? nikola tesla?
Dr Headphones: dajit is a real bombshell of a woman :)
HouseTweeny: 3-2-1. That's the number!
Bozoette: Good one, Ken- have to remember that one...
t.h.cecil: so, cat send me a copy of "Red Shift" sometime. Damn! I wish I could have come to Seattle.
lililamont: I just saw the film. We had reviewed it at Cat's. So, did I pass my screen test, or do I have to get on the couch?
cease: i'm not hot dogging ya- i'm not billy jacking ya
Bozoette: ..
Bambi: finally got my linux box back up and running ... actually a new (to me) box and new Linux OS too .. Fedora Core
HouseTweeny: Ah, you choose death. Very wise. But first...
Hal: Later folks
Dr Headphones: bozoette: you don't have to be so shy, say more than ".."
t.h.cecil: a little chi chi
Bubba's Brain: Chi Chi!
Bunnyboy: lili: Well, you don't HAVE to do anything, but, well, ehrm... : )
HouseTweeny: Hal, don't go...
lililamont: Bambi: I'm getting to do the same thing. Upgrade my desktop and install Linux. The horror....
HouseTweeny: Via duct. Why LINUX?
lililamont: Well, Bun, if I don't HAVE to do anything.....
stephnfosterkane: why not?
Rotonoto: ..
Bambi: LOL ... if it's one of the new versions...it's a nice transition
ah,clem: ...
Bambi: and much safer than windows
Bunnyboy: lili: Thass rite. It's a Zen thang.
stephnfosterkane: still problem with dial-up modems, though
Bambi: (smaller target)
HouseTweeny: Try Mac OS X Panther. You'll like it.
t.h.cecil: I'm coming to L.A. to see FST
HouseTweeny: Also based on UNIX.
stephnfosterkane: some discussion of whether the security is "real" in The Register today, Bambi, have a look
cease: while there still is one, thc
lililamont: House: I don't know if you are aware of this, but I was laid off 3 years ago and the only work I've seen anywhere is either for MS weenies or Unix/Linux people. I have loads of Unix in various flavors, but no Linux. So I have to add that to my skill set. Being unemployed this long really sucks.
Dr Headphones: i'm hoping that when i (eventually) get a laptop, i can dualboot linux on it also. i understand some of them are rather touchy on linux
Bunnyboy: thc: FST is playing in LA? When?
ah,clem: gonna need another request, as it is early yet...
HouseTweeny: UNIX is US. We are the future.
Dr Headphones: lili: almost that long for me, but i'm a real workin' man now :)
Bambi: I know I would Tweeny ... but I would add it to our computers .. I don't replace them LOL
stephnfosterkane: you should be able to scream along in bash scripts, Lili
lililamont: Really, Dr. H! How long were you unemployed and what did you finally land?
stephnfosterkane: plus they got csh, sh, etc. to suit everyone's fanci
Bambi: I have not worked in the corp world for at least 2 1/2 yrs I think now
HouseTweeny: Bow to the goddess Bambi.
Rotonoto: ah, Roto been partly self-unemployed for years...
Dr Headphones: lili: over 2 1/2 years. i'm a truck driver now. no jokin', a real 18-wheel guy
lililamont: SFK: Anything beats windblows. Bash would be a refreshing change.
stephnfosterkane: ken -- try and image off the drive; they don't provide CDs anymore, so the back-up is an image on the HDD
Dr Headphones: drove through conn. the other night, but didn't have doc's phone number. besides, it was 3am or so
HouseTweeny: Dr. H, just be sure not to take a tire iron to Jeff Bridges.
stephnfosterkane: other than that, it seems to work OK
Bambi: it is a refreshing change lili (Bash -- bourne again shell)
lililamont: Dr. H: Even though I drove a truck on the flightline when I was in the Air Farce, I don't think I want to do that now. I'm too old for that shit.
Dr Headphones: jeff bridges never did me no wrong. i will be on good terms with him unless he's less than 13' 6" tall :) sorry, a little trucker humor there
stephnfosterkane: lili - investigate Cygwin: you can do pretty much any 'ix command line stuff in Windows; it's free
lililamont: Bambi, I hope you were defining that for someone else and not me.
Dr Headphones: lili: i'm no spring chicken. 52 y/o here and i learned OK
stephnfosterkane: (Cygwin not a replacement, but a sanity helper if stuck in Win for some reason)
Bambi: Linux developers have a real sense of humor in their naming schemes for projects
HouseTweeny: Gotta watch the headroom.
t.h.cecil: where were you stationed in the Air Farce, Lili?
lililamont: Well, I'll be 54 in May.
Bambi: yes, for anyone who might not know
HouseTweeny: Ginger Baker?
Dr Headphones: tween: didn't get that reference. sorry. i'm not a quick as i used to be :(
Bambi: (I'll be 29 for the 21st time Saturday)
Rotonoto: Ghost Heart AFB?
lililamont: After tech school in Rantoul, IL, I was at Mountain Home AFB in Idaho, and then RAF Lakenheath in England, and finally Plattsburgh AFB in upstate NY. Worked on F-111s in avionics.
cease: one way of looking at it, bambi
Dr Headphones: lili: no age limit, as long as you can pass the physical exam. blood pressure keeps a lot out of it, must be low and/or under control
HouseTweeny: Ah, the quickening.
stephnfosterkane surveys the crowd and decides he's senior member here tonight, given that Dex is in Key West (lucky stiff)
lililamont: Well, DR. H., that leaves me out. Plus, I'm on an interesting assortment of meds.
Dr Headphones passes the gavel to klok
stephnfosterkane: lili -- according to "Weaponry", AF is planning to close down many bases and move the squadrons to places like Mountain Home, Nowhere
Bambi: Klok ... LOL
t.h.cecil: Plattsburgh is not far from me. I did "The Diary of Anne Frank" there only a week ago
t.h.cecil: at SUNY
HouseTweeny: We could have a conversation about what's coming across the border from MX, Dr. H. Not exactly what you drive.
lililamont: "Scuse me, guys, I'm going to ring Doc.
Bunnyboy: As per usual, and not to brag, I'm probably Young Guy tonite.
stephnfosterkane: Ilan has revealed his latest fun ID...
Dr Headphones: sorry to hear that lili. i have passed 3 drug tests and one blow-in-the-machine alcohol test since october. didn't study for any of them either :)
lililamont: TH: How does one get into theater? I really want to know.
Merlyn: practice
HouseTweeny: Would you like to improve the size of your album?
Bambi: actually, I would rather be 31 ror the 19th time ... I met ah,clem when I was 31 :-)
Bubba's Brain: through the stage doors....
t.h.cecil: and what is it, mr fskane
Bunnyboy: lili: It's easy to get into theatre. It's hell to get out.
cease: thru the back door, just like us in seattle, lili
HouseTweeny: Just sitting in the Armchair.
Rotonoto: Roto & Bozo off to pick up pizza, be back 30 min...
stephnfosterkane: happy pizza folks!
Dr Headphones: enjoy, roto/bozo
Dr Headphones: hold the anchovy eyes, please
lililamont: No, cease, I need a creative outlet. I'm certifiably nuts, so I ought to be artistic.
Merlyn: ok oo
Bubba's Brain: Nick's Swell Pizza?
lililamont: Bun: do you do theatre?
Bambi: Pizza! Yummm
HouseTweeny: The 50 states of demensia.
lililamont: I just moved to a new one today, according to my shrink.
Bunnyboy: I'm a hibernating actor, 14 years off the stage, after about 15 years on the stage.
||||||||| It's 10:30 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Hal - dead from measles
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
Bambi: any other requests for tonight's show?
lililamont: Ah. Poor Hal....
Dr Headphones: i was last in theatre in high school. played king theseus (?) in "midsummers night dream"
HouseTweeny: Moraz rocks. They say he's got a new electronic album.
Bunnyboy: I played Voltaire\Pangloss in CANDIDE in 1997. No other shows since 1991.
stephnfosterkane just said no to drugs; never looked back...hardly ever hears the voices, even so...all those "doctors" were just trying to stifle my soul...
lililamont: I did a Ruth Buzzi take off, complete with hairnet.
HouseTweeny: 3x Relayer tour. I'm 50.
cease: i have no acting ability whatsoever
lililamont: That was high school, 1969.
t.h.cecil: I haven't heard a new Moraz album since "Time Code". I wasn't impressed
stephnfosterkane: got Red Shift handy, Bambi?
Dr Headphones: ah, relayer! i remember it well despite the fog of drugs in the 70s
HouseTweeny: Me like Moraz. You don't have to :)
lililamont: BRB. Beverage calls.
cease: is that Suaron's house band?
HouseTweeny: No MIDI. Relayer. Like a waterbug running around keyboards.
Bunnyboy: I figure I did 2 different productions of CANDIDE, one of EVITA and about a hundred others. Good enought for now.
t.h.cecil: I especially like "i" by Moraz
Bunnyboy: My favorite answer, when anyone asks if I still act, is: "Anytime I go to work."
Dr Headphones: my first role was as the wizard in the 4th grade. oz rules! :)
HouseTweeny: Gandork the Great waves his wand.
Dr Headphones: lol, bun! good comment
stephnfosterkane rushes off to get not only beverage (just ice tea 4 now) and FOOOOOOD
stephnfosterkane: as Next World... winds down
Dr Headphones: i'm drinking coffee, my beverage of choice
HouseTweeny: Moraz , like the others in the band was given free reign to make an album. Moraz went to Brazil. He took the tapes back to Switzerland and overdubbed keyboards.
Bambi: hurry back Klok
Bunnyboy: I first found FST back when I hung out with the college theatre crowd, mid-70's, when I was in my teens. Gonzaga students, listening to NOT INSANE! Everything cascaded after that.
Bunnyboy: Still hooked.
stephnfosterkane: back
stephnfosterkane: roto is off getting pizza, clem
Dr Headphones: bun: is that a request or a comment about the pizza?
cease: yes yes yes bunny. let's Eat or be eaten
Bambi: I'll brb ... need more coffee!
HouseTweeny: Or, perhaps, More Love from Robert Randolph of Mississippi.
cease: well, i always love listening to my own works
Bunnyboy: And I always love listening to other people work.
stephnfosterkane: yeah, I listened to FST in college and everything cascaded, too. took me a week to get all my underwear clean...
cease: hey kloko, what was thatr song you alerted us to last week on kcrw, something about a brontosaurus
lililamont: Coffee? Gin and tonic for me, baby.
HouseTweeny: Do you remember this....
cease: i actulaly had a gin and tonic yesterday with your left over tonic, lili
cease: susrpisngly unpleasent.
HouseTweeny: It's all yours!
lililamont: And I trust it was tasty, Cat.
stephnfosterkane: Cat -- Morning Becomes Eclectic Thur. Even rebroadcast on the web. You can find the playlist by date.
lililamont: Unpleasant? The gin or the tonic?
cease: alas it was not. now i have a bottle of gin in the cupboard i'll never drink. i'll save it for you, lili
stephnfosterkane: Cat -- it was a cover of The Move, a little-known early '70s UK band; seminal over there. It's called "Brontosarus"
doctec: hi gang - hey, lili's here!
lililamont: AFK: I stream KCRW constantly. I'm even a subscriber. But I don't recall a song about a brontosaurus.
cease: doc's back. i was just discussing the fate of your tonics
doctec: i am now a subscriber as well - kcrw rawwwks!
Bunnyboy: lo agin doc. Where's those tour pix?
Bunnyboy: No pressure!
doctec: on the way, bb
Dr Headphones: tortillas!
cease: some guy was being interviewed and he played it. klok knows the band
lililamont: Yes, Doc, honey, and I tried calling you in the basement and on your cell. How come you don't have the answering machine set up in the basement yet?
stephnfosterkane: lili -- I think it was during last week's segment with the DJ on BBC Radio 1 where he plays one song for Nic that has some import in the UK at the moment
lililamont: Ah, right. I'll have to visit the archive.
Dr Headphones: watch the dust in the archive......
stephnfosterkane: Cat - it was a cover; I don't recall the band. You'd have to check the KCRW site for the MBE playlist for last Thursday
doctec: lili: too many other things to deal with. i was in the shower anyway, was going to call when i got out.
stephnfosterkane: you don't have a waterproof cell, DT? tch!
lililamont: The shower! Of course! It all makes sense now! The prolonged absence, the lack of odor wafting toward Milford..... BRB, all. Need to research something.
Dr Headphones: none of my cells are waterproof. all membranes permeable
doctec: sfk: others in the house are already asleep, didn't want my cell phone call to disturb them.
stephnfosterkane always loved The Avengers episode where Peel and the chief are in the ultra top secret archive and everything is filthy, covered with dust, trash on the floor -- none of the cleaning staff has high enough clearance
Bambi: Lili: well, there are no toasted almond makings in the house...so coffee it is ;-)
doctec: sfk: i'm in the basement now. i got one of those sti tv wonder usb boxes so i can watch cable here in the basement while i'm chatting
stephnfosterkane: oops, forgot an HTML tag, sorry
Dr Headphones: klok: i knew a guy who was fireman on an aircraft carrier. required the best possible clearance because he could be called to work anywhere on the ship
stephnfosterkane: it's a real problem
stephnfosterkane: DT - ain't that cool!?
stephnfosterkane: with the radio going and the TV going and the chat going...you are going crazy! esp if you're working, too!
Dr Headphones: sti tv wonder? you mean stevie wonder? :)
lililamont: Hey, doc, my doc's put me on battery acid. Or whatever lithium is.
stephnfosterkane: i think he means ATI TV Wonder, Ken, with a keyboard miss
Bunnyboy: I gotta go feed Bunnette and hang with the solo dog, Henry. Bucky the pup had the "adjustment" today, and is relaxing at the vet's.
lililamont: I'm going to be... the Energizer Bunny!
doctec: i will be working after the chat, sfk
Dr Headphones: miss, mister, mistress, doesn't matter to me
stephnfosterkane: lili - you have to drink the right electrolyte (not Gatorade!) and you can generate 3V
HouseTweeny: It be hoovers me to wear this dress.
HouseTweeny: Not.
cease: best to all, bun
doctec: sfk: yes, ati tv wonder usb - it's external, connects to laptop via usb cable
lililamont: Does gin and tonic work?
doctec: bb: ok, nitey nite - see ya on the funway
Dr Headphones: tween: you look good in a dress, i'll bet, but not as good as clyde tolson
stephnfosterkane: neat, DT; I'm stuck with the lousy HDTV plug-in card; hard to move it
cease: lol, kend
doctec: lili: now you know why i drink those energy drinks with my vodka :)
HouseTweeny: Try South Congress, Austin
Dr Headphones: cat's in a bag?
Rotonoto: I am Rotonoto of Borg- You will be assim... oooh! Pizza!
doctec: taurine, ginseng, loads of b and c vitamins - and no sugar (sucralose) so i don't get that blood sugar rush/crash
stephnfosterkane: at least you're WARM, Tweeny!
||||||||| Bunnyboy rushes off, saying "10:51 PM? Mark Time is almost on! Where's a radio?"
HouseTweeny: Hey, we're all in the bag.
Dr Headphones: ah, i've heard of that section of austin. alas, never been there.
Bozoette: ..
stephnfosterkane: welcome back, Roto/Bozoette
cease: bun
lililamont: Aha! It all makes sense now! The energy drinks! The vodka! The night owl mellow personality!
doctec: lili: you GOT IT!!!! :) :) :)
Rotonoto: Bozoette has no lines- she is getting paper plates...
lililamont: The affinity for cats!
Dr Headphones: lili: speaking of owls, driving through nevada desert at night, saw huge owl coasting over the road in front of me with rabbit in his/her talons. impressive sight by moonlight
stephnfosterkane: means there is a quantum discontinuity nearby, Lili
HouseTweeny: Southern sector, newfoundland.
doctec: mee-yow!
lililamont: The desert does have some large winged predators.
Dr Headphones: i'm not afraid of bugs
doctec: hey, daily show is gonna start in a few minutes here - i get to watch and chat at the same time - woohoo!
lililamont: The bunnies are desert dessert.
cease: now Buzz bunny, that's scary
HouseTweeny: Don't get me started about Syria/Iran.
stephnfosterkane: ...also Global Hawks, F-22s and assorted odd stuff from/to Area 51...
lililamont: Yep, I have to pause Nelly McKay for that.
Bambi: with spring coming soon ... I have lady bugs on a beautiful green plant as a desktop image on my Linux box
HouseTweeny: Waiting for Groucho with his cigar.
lililamont: Don't get me started about anything that asshole Bush says or does.
stephnfosterkane: OK, Tweeny. You know they signed a mutual defense agreement the other day, right?
cease: or someone like him
Dr Headphones: which asshole bush? or are any of them NOT assholes?
stephnfosterkane: it's like you're down 5 pawns and suddenly you got a black rook on either side of you...
HouseTweeny: 1st run Master of the World. Bethesda, MD.
cease: road and hearse magazine
HouseTweeny: Me like Verne. Me want Speilberg & Lucas make movies.
Dr Headphones: wow, never heard the "deputy dan" reference in this one before
lililamont: Dr. H.: Good point. I almost gagged when I saw Gee Dubya's wife on the front page of the NYT, checking out the Gates by Christo..Glad I wasn't there.
HouseTweeny: Hey, TX isn't all Halliburton.
cease: are you in dallas, tweeny?
stephnfosterkane: YET, Tween
lililamont: BTW, Doc, Monday is going to be a wintry mix. (Yechhhh!) So it's either Sat/Sun or next weekend.
lililamont: Doc and I want to check out the Gates, without Laura Bush around.
stephnfosterkane: this weekend in RI is spoz'ed to be coooold, Lili (maybe not as cold as last month, but...)
cease: look like a trip, lili
HouseTweeny: Somewhere in between :) would like to lobby for high-speed rail between Houston/ElPaso/Dallas.
doctec: lili: yeah, i was thinking sunday - temps will be in the mid to upper thirties mid day downtown
lililamont: SFK: They are promising the same for here.
cease: you know the dallas-ft worth airport>?
stephnfosterkane: lili -- check Intellicast tomorrow; they have a full 10-day forecast for anywhere that matters
Dr Headphones: i read it in the toilet!
doctec: will bundle up for the walk
stephnfosterkane: within driving range of Pedro's, Cat
Bambi: we redialed...ah,clem grabbed it back quickly ... shouldn't be too much dead air
lililamont: Thanks, SFK! Good to know.
stephnfosterkane: aaaaagh! dead air!
HouseTweeny: I know where Plano is.
doctec: it's not dead, it's just pining for the fjords
stephnfosterkane: plain ol' plano...
Dr Headphones: when i was in radio, left 2 seconds of dead air. boss rushed in and told me with 28 more he could sell it.
cease: i'm just trying to find out if i have enough time to change planes at different terminals. in some cities like lax, the terminals are driving distance. in van, they're all togther
Bambi: sorry, we redialed...ah,clem grabbed it back quickly ... shouldn't be too much dead air
stephnfosterkane: now part of Greater Houston...
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 11 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
cease: but do you know where malmborg is?
HouseTweeny: Also know where Zilker Park is.
stephnfosterkane: cat - I think DFW has a People Mover
HouseTweeny: Zilker Park is pretty cool.
cease: so did various world's faires, klok
doctec: sfk: people mover - complete with the sound of cows mooing playing through the ceiling speakers
stephnfosterkane: not someplace I would go by choice, though
stephnfosterkane looked out the window of the car he was in and saw a truckload of longhorn cattle...decided he wasn't in Kansas anymore
HouseTweeny: SFK, you're missing a good swim.
stephnfosterkane: ;-)
HouseTweeny: Xel Ha, MX is also to be revered.
stephnfosterkane flew into DFW for plane change, a friend picked him up, we went to Pedro's, had a nice meal, drove me back and on to the west coast
stephnfosterkane ate three times on that flight
Dr Headphones: klok: was fueling the other day next to cattle hauler. they were all looking at me through the holes in the side with those big brown cow eyes
lililamont: Hey, I'm being headbutted by a 20 pound cat. I'll be back once his insatiable need for attention has abated.
Rotonoto: ..
cease: american airlines promises to sell me food. i'll bring my own
HouseTweeny: There's something going on on the border that's neither TX or MX.
Bozoette: ..
stephnfosterkane: Cat -- last time I flew, I brought my own; it was Southwest, so that's pretty much the only way
Rotonoto: Roto rebuilding Whisper 200 aquarium pump for Bozoette whilst his pizza gets cold
HouseTweeny: SFK - from where do you hail?
stephnfosterkane: sad that Jack Fry's airline has fallen so far...
Dr Headphones: hippo birdbarf to you, klok!
cease: you remember when i was in la last month? i brought food both to and from la
stephnfosterkane: Rhode Island at present, Tweeny
stephnfosterkane: tnx Ken
Bambi: Happy Birthday Klok!!!!!
stephnfosterkane: tnx Banbi
HouseTweeny: SFK - Grew up near D.C.
cease: happy klok day
stephnfosterkane: ;-) Cat
doctec: happy bday kane
Rotonoto: moved near DC at age 10
stephnfosterkane: thanks, DT
HouseTweeny: Near the ear at D.C. ?
Rotonoto: many happy yazowies, dude
stephnfosterkane: 'preciated, Roto
Bambi: wb Roto and Bozoette ... good pizza? (Silly question lol)
Rotonoto: "...near Wash DC but waaaay outside the beltway..."
stephnfosterkane moved near DC at age 38; got away as fast as possible...
cease: sounds like mutt and snuff
Dr Headphones: roto: been on the washington beltway thrice now. once afternoon rush hour, once morning rush hour, once 3am. guess which one i prefer?
Rotonoto: Yum! Pizza Oven reliably good fare- and- open til eleven
stephnfosterkane: what are the....TOPPINGS, Roto? ;-)
HouseTweeny: Soundman at the Chidle Harold '76 '77.
Rotonoto: avoid beltway at all costs
Bambi: yuk, afternoon rush hour on the beltway!
Dr Headphones: actually, 3AM was a breeze.
||||||||| It's 11:10 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| t.h.cecil - dead from intense demonic possession
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
Rotonoto: hmmm- toppings? izza Supreme
HouseTweeny: Childe Harold (pardon the lonestar)
stephnfosterkane only had to drive from Germantown to Gaithersburg; took an hour in the AM...
Bambi: 3am of course...smooth sailing!
Dr Headphones: bambi: that day it was snowing also. not good time at all
Rotonoto: pepperoni, green peppers, sausage, purple onions, cheese, etc
Bambi: thought you would say that LOL
Bambi: no it wasn't Ken
stephnfosterkane: otherwise, I take 301 to Annapolis, 50 towards DC and then south on 301. Waldorf/Charles Cty the only major mess that way
Dr Headphones: sounds yummy, roto. eat a piece for me
stephnfosterkane: compared to I-95, 301 thru upper MD is kinda creepy -- seems like it's half-hour between cars sometimes
HouseTweeny: Have you heard of the new Oldsmobile? The Ronnie Spector. I'd buy 1.
Bambi: there isn't a weather scenario that works at rush hour on the beltway LOL
Dr Headphones: i do like the way they let cars drive on the shoulder. merging appeared to be a problem though
stephnfosterkane: gets pretty busy after Kent Is (what a travesty they made THERE), though
Dr Headphones: cellblock 32
Bozoette: I drive from Germantown to Gaithersburg, only takes 10 minutes (at 9AM)
stephnfosterkane: LOL Bozoette!
Bozoette: Coming home at night another story- can take upwards of an hour at times
Bubba's Brain: ...
HouseTweeny: 12613 Bunting Lane, Bowie
Dr Headphones: this part cracks me up. bob dylan singing oreos from opera
stephnfosterkane: I lived up behind the Weiss Mkt. in Cinnamon Woods and commuted over to near the Red Lobster near the I-270 exit for G'burg
HouseTweeny: Me no like Gettysburg. Me no like Vicksburg.
Rotonoto: ..
Dr Headphones: but do you like hamburg?
doctec: with relish
Bozoette: Roto is multi-tasking here and it's driving him nuts
HouseTweeny: One of my neighbors found a cannon ball in their back yard. Jeezzze...
stephnfosterkane: thought the landfill problem in Mont. Cty. was an absolute scream. Nobody else wanted it, but it was right next to the end of the Red Line, so the land was worth (at the time) $4M per acre...
stephnfosterkane: he should lay off the nuts on pizza, Bozoette
Dr Headphones: roto can multi-task with the best of them
stephnfosterkane: it's hard on the teeth. Some of the other toppings are much better for the choppers
Dr Headphones: klok: i shared pizza with doctec once, sausage and broccoli. sounded strange when he ordered it, but was quite delicious. not nuts, but certainly non-traditional
doctec: i remember that, dr. h. - gotta get back out to the midwest sometime
stephnfosterkane: don't get pizza in southeast asia is the word; the corn is awful
doctec: any idea if you might be swinging thru the east coast around the time cat comes out?
Bambi: Ken, is that the one they call a white pizza?
Dr Headphones: i hate chicago in a truck. LOTS of low clearance bridges
stephnfosterkane: ken -- at the speed Roto can key morse code, he ought to be able to multi-task any imaginable number of things ;-))
Dr Headphones: doc: i never know where i'm going until i deliver a load. then i get instructions on next one.
stephnfosterkane: Tweeny -- check out the Battle of Plattsburgh in 1815. They got cannon balls all over the place in-town.
Dr Headphones: morse is a real talent to send, but more so to hear and understand. i could always send faster than receive
doctec: dr. h.: well, keep us informed - cat will be around the northeast i-95 corridor in the beginning of may
HouseTweeny: Nobody has figured out how to stop 80 tons. That's why they're "the gentlemen of the road".
Dr Headphones: if anyone wants my cell number, private message me through here. don't want to give in public, everyone who reads googlegroups will be calling me at day rates
cease: the big tour of 2005
stephnfosterkane: LOL
stephnfosterkane: watch out, anyone he sees'll be in his latest tour album on the site!
cease: barefoot in the pits
cease: a ref to the only broadway play i saw on broadway, barefoot in the park
lililamont: Hey, all, cats are in, and I'm losing steam. Doc, get some sleep, and I'll see you tomorrow.
cease: you're right, i have to do a seem real theatre video for the site, klok
Dr Headphones: nite nite, lili.
stephnfosterkane: for me, the best pizza has to be from either Pepe's or Sally's in New Haven...
stephnfosterkane: nite Lili
doctec: ok sweetie - let's shoot pool tomorrow night
doctec: sleep well!
lililamont: Bon nuit, all.
cease: like proctor in new york to film his first flick, on the phone with the guys on the hour hour show back in la, carrying around his minox movie camera
stephnfosterkane: byedoc
cease: nite, lili
lililamont: Oooh!!!!! Pool! What a great idea! Works for me.
Bambi: FYI: If any of you enjoy computer news and entertaning music ... Friday evening from about 7pm till midnight we do some Shep, funny music, and then current news and discussion on computers
HouseTweeny: Until last time, again...
stephnfosterkane: minox made a movie camera??
Bambi: night Lili
||||||||| HouseTweeny rushes off, saying "11:23 PM? Mark Time is almost on! Where's a radio?"
lililamont: Nite, everyone.
doctec: y'all have a great evening - dr.h., it was a pleasure seeing you in chat this evening, hope we see you again soon.
||||||||| lililamont rushes off, saying "11:23 PM? Mark Time is almost on! Where's a radio?"
Merlyn: I'm going too, bye
Rotonoto: nite guize...
Dr Headphones: yes sir, doc, we will meet again
||||||||| Around 11:24 PM, Merlyn walks off into the sunset...
Dr Headphones: g'nite, merl
stephnfosterkane: nite merlyn -- pleasure to CU in Cat's video!
stephnfosterkane: good show, Jim!
cease: off they rush. what a rush!
doctec: i have to take off as well - have a great prez day weekend, see y'all next thursday!
doctec: nytol (zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......................
Bambi: great to see you all! My eyes are burning and they need rest ... so I am gonna go lay down now. See ya next time! Happy birthday Klok! And Ken it was great to see you home for abit! Give us a jingle when you're in the area.
Dr Headphones: ah, is it time for all to leave? i'm not ready yet. been deprived too long
Dr Headphones: ok, bambi, looking forward to it
stephnfosterkane: nite Clem, Bambi
stephnfosterkane is hanging in there
Bambi: night all!
Dr Headphones: toad away.........
stephnfosterkane: Dex, if anyone is wondering, is off to the Keys this week
||||||||| At 11:25 PM, doctec vanishes mysteriously -- just as Nino the Mind Boggler predicted!
Bambi: ah,clem will be able to chat now Ken
Dr Headphones: i have been to the keys twice, wasn't impressed either time.
Rotonoto: nite
Bambi: I am sure he will want to chat for a few with you guys now that he can
cease: bambi,
stephnfosterkane is in no hurry to go there, versus some deserted beach in NZ or SA
Dr Headphones: from "toad away" to "proton storm"? what a segue!
cease: south africa?
stephnfosterkane: yeah, Cat
Dr Headphones: hell, klok, go to somalia. you'd be a shoo-in for president ;)
Bambi: yes, cat?
cease: sounds like a very scary place these days
Rotonoto: good to see you again, Bambi- it's been a while
stephnfosterkane: only because we can't get any of the oil, Cat. The Chinese have the "in", so we let anything happen there
cease: i was bidding you adieu, bambi. in my usuall shorthand
Bambi: you too Dave! Great to see ya
Bambi: ah, ok Cat ... have a great night!
||||||||| Bambi rushes off, saying "11:29 PM? Mark Time is almost on! Where's a radio?"
stephnfosterkane: so Ken -- how much home time will you get?
cease: time is of the essence
cease: better than time being of the essenes
Dr Headphones: i get 1 day/wk, but must wait at least 17 days between, or 21 if i want 3 days instead of 2 1/2.
ah,clem: Ken, BRB, need to change settings
stephnfosterkane: actually, Ken, I was thinking about something with better oil prospects, like doing a coup in Equitoral Guinea...but they got no good beaches
cease: so you're 2 and a halfing now?
Dr Headphones: the good thing is that i can take it anywhere i want. next time i will go to florida to my parents' house
||||||||| ah,clem rushes off, saying "11:31 PM? Mark Time is almost on! Where's a radio?"
||||||||| Catherwood escorts ah,clem in through the front door at 11:32 PM, picks up his cues (only slightly scorched), and heads for the billiard room.
Dr Headphones: you need an "in" with maggie's boy if you want to try that. oops, he did, got caught......
Dr Headphones: cat, i get three full days this time, as i have complete 21 days solo
Dr Headphones: got home wed. 6pm, so sat. 6pm i have to be available for load.
stephnfosterkane: do they have a load, or do you just cool heels "until", Ken?
Dr Headphones: got real lucky, last load before coming home delivered 20 miles from here
Dr Headphones: i must check the onboard computer every 30 minutes for load info once i'm "available", so will have to just be there. i'm parked only 1/2 mile from here, but every 30 min would be a stretch driving back and forth
stephnfosterkane: hmmm. they ought to have an 800 number or a pager
Dr Headphones: i haven't seen david letterman for months, and i get charlie sheen and tori amos. maybe i'll try leno instead
stephnfosterkane: or nightline
ah,clem: Ken, I am getting a little sleepy, if you can, join irc.equnet.org #cni, I'll be there in the morning, if you do not have to leave before that...
Dr Headphones: well, klok, they do have 800 number and they have my cell number, but all load info must go over computer so it can be archived on tape or however they do it there
stephnfosterkane: nite clem
Dr Headphones: clem, i'll try to remember that one and catch you there! good "seeing" you again tonight
stephnfosterkane: good show, Clem!
Dr Headphones: yes, nightline. smallpox. i'll watch that one
stephnfosterkane: too bad it can't go to YOUR computer, Ken ;-))
cease: great show, clem
ah,clem: thanks everyone, night all
||||||||| ah,clem rushes off, saying "11:37 PM? Mark Time is almost on! Where's a radio?"
stephnfosterkane: maybe Red Shift sometime!
cease: indeed
Dr Headphones: well, i don't have uplink to that satellite. they also have GPS onboard, know my location within 6 meters at all time, as well as what gear i'm in, how many rpms i'm running, when i'm overspeed, etc.
stephnfosterkane: heck, if they know so much, why can't they just DRIVE the thing? Or at least let you do it from a cubicle at some comfy office?
cease: this is starting to sound a lot like bride of fiesign
Dr Headphones: lol! well, it sounds better in theory than in practice, i'm sure
Dr Headphones: cat, i must confess i have that one, but only listened once. it didn't really ring my chimes. but if there are references to truckers, i will give another try
stephnfosterkane: yeah. next week on "Weaponry" promised is UAVs and commentary on those robot things flying around with armed rockets under remote control
stephnfosterkane: supposedly...
cease: peorgie and mudhead are truckers in it, kend
cease: it should be right up your alley
Dr Headphones: for sure i will listen again. i have cd/mp3 player which runs through cassette adaptor into radio
cease: i met the lads in seattle, hung out before and after the show and the next morning. i was somewhat alarmed when ossman said that the last 3 albums were the groups best work
stephnfosterkane: next to something flying over me by remote control, full of explosives, I guess a fully loaded truck going down the road with nobody in it is almost as scary
cease: but i can see the advantage that they think that
Dr Headphones: speaking of explosives, on one day last week i saw two trucks with hazmat placards for explosives. 1.1 is the worst (dynamite), i saw 1.2 and 1.4 (blasting caps, ammo)
cease: paging timothy mcveigh. you're double parked
stephnfosterkane: dynamite is OK; caps and ammo would worry me
Dr Headphones: dynamite is hauled only in reefers (refrigerated vans) so it won't get hot and go off at the wrong time
cease: may i take your cap and goat?
stephnfosterkane: dynamite, if new and properly stored is pretty insensitive
cease: neh!
Dr Headphones: you get my goat :)
stephnfosterkane: the whole point of the stuff. some HE is darn near impossible to set off with heat or impact
Dr Headphones: i wouldn't want to be near it, new or old
cease: i thought you wore a goatee
Rotonoto: joy, joy- my Whisper 200 roars back to life, its rubber parts replenished...
cease: helium? harlan ellison? (whom his wife calls HE in her newsletter)
stephnfosterkane: classical dynamite, the nitro settles out and pools, gets really touchy, but that's over a year or more (you physically rotate the boxes, sticks, whatever, regularly)
stephnfosterkane: but ammo, if you have a fire, is a real problem, and a trailer load of caps would scare the crap out of me
Dr Headphones: good deal, roto, i was getting worried you fell into the tank and drowned
Dr Headphones: hazmat regs are very tough, and fines are sky-high if you violate them. some also include prison time
stephnfosterkane: roto -- go fish
stephnfosterkane: well, the consequences are so dreadful, Ken
||||||||| It's 11:50 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Bubba's Brain - dead from the yaws
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
stephnfosterkane: I was in Raleigh in '96 when somebody lost it with a tanker of something evil and it shut down the entire Beltway south of the city. I had to reroute 3 different times.
Dr Headphones: the real serious hazmat stuff is always done with teams so that one can always stay with truck when other one eats, potties, etc.
stephnfosterkane: yeah, and then there is the nuke stuff --
stephnfosterkane: check last week's NYT Magazine (not the one now online -- I may have sent you the link) about the guy who's building the huge artwork in the desert near Yucca Mtn.
Dr Headphones: i have never seen a radioactive placard. but i understand that a case of some watches will require it. i thought they quit using tritium on dials years ago, that's all i can think of
stephnfosterkane: radium? see Lansdale House scandal...
stephnfosterkane: the thing about nuclear waste in trucks is, as the article put it, "they don't call it heavy metals for nothing"
Dr Headphones: i knew radium wasn't in use anymore after the dial painters all got tongue cancer from wetting their tiny paintbrushes in their mouths
stephnfosterkane has an old pressure gauge with radium paint on its dial purely for calibrating his scintillometer
Dr Headphones: do you store it in lead box to avoid having stray alpha and beta rays streaking through you 24/7?
stephnfosterkane: they kept making radium 'way into the early 1950s, Ken -- for medical treatments
stephnfosterkane: ken, there's not that much there
stephnfosterkane: it's a known source. the faceplate on your monitor or TV is probably just as radioactive, power on or off
Dr Headphones: my grandmother had radium implant for cervical cancer in 60s. we couldn't visit her in hospital for more than 15 min at time
stephnfosterkane: the guy in Lansdale house processed ore into radium in his basement for 40 years
stephnfosterkane: all of the house and most of the topsoil on the lot had to be placed in sealed SSteel containers and put into hazmat nuke landfill
stephnfosterkane: also 900 feet of sewer line
Dr Headphones: never heard that story before. interesting
stephnfosterkane: and they had to dig up his body and put that in a hazmat site
stephnfosterkane: most radioactive skeleton ever tested
stephnfosterkane: he also smoked 2 packs of cigarettes a day; died at 83
Dr Headphones: not sure there were many with which to compare it
stephnfosterkane: of emphysema
stephnfosterkane: due to the acid fumes he breathed constantly, extracting the radium
stephnfosterkane: no cancer from radioactive exposure. no lung cancer...
Dr Headphones: no one back then ever thought about the dangers and used vented hoods, protective garments, etc.
stephnfosterkane: he did it to help humanity, Ken
||||||||| Catherwood walks in wearing his pyjamas, yawns, and mumbles "It's midnight here in New York city"...then he falls over and starts snoring loudly..
Dr Headphones: i remember reading that when roentgen discovered x-rays, every shoe store had one as a novelty
stephnfosterkane: all the medical treatment radium needles were encased in solid gold
stephnfosterkane: no, they didn't ken
cease: i'm listening to an alabama radio station right now
stephnfosterkane: that wasn't until after WWII
cease: an english as distant as australia's
stephnfosterkane: Cat probably remembers it; I certainly did -- seeing the bones in your foot in Sears
cease: oh yes, i remember that
stephnfosterkane: the "shoe store fluoroscope"
Dr Headphones: really? i do remember the TB truck/trailer would park in front of the courthouse when i was a kid, anyone would walk through and get an x-ray
stephnfosterkane: pretty nasty, but kids only got it a few times.
Rotonoto: read Marie Curie bio- she was refining radium at home for extended periods, outcome predictable
stephnfosterkane: the problem was, it was absolutely unshielded -- the shoe clerks had horrible health problems from being irradiated all day
cease: yes, i remember reading that in elementary school, how heroic she was. just sounded stupid to me
Dr Headphones: cat, unfortunately, there are some areas of the country where all you can hear on radio is country or hip-hop. i'm not competent enough to change cds while driving yet, so i just drive in silence when that happens
cease: no, this is an interview with the head of the alabama marijuana party on an alabama call in show
cease: i met loretta, hopefully the next governor of alabma, recently
stephnfosterkane: ROFL
Dr Headphones: alabama marijuana party almost sounds like an oxymoron
cease: this is archived at pot.tv
cease: she is serious, kend, and extremely charistmatic
stephnfosterkane: how are they going to defeat the alabama crystal meth party?
cease: i'm helping her out with some cinematography suggestions
stephnfosterkane: seems it would have more votes ;-)
Rotonoto: LOL!
Dr Headphones: lol! those methodists are REAL strong in the south
Rotonoto: and how about the Alabama Deliverance Party?
stephnfosterkane: yeah, hazard to passing trucks...meth houses blowing up...
Dr Headphones: i can hear the banjo in the background now
Rotonoto: there's madness to their method...
stephnfosterkane: their method IS their madness
cease: the show she's on is from a prisoner's advocate and loretta, our joint candidtate, has managed to get on the board of prisons, as an advisor to the governor
stephnfosterkane: mick jagger IS Ned Kelly...
cease: i think she is going far.
Dr Headphones: i'm sure she will do at least as well as lurleen wallace
cease: no, ned kelly is dead. mick is still kicking.....something
Rotonoto: she must be very high in the ratings
stephnfosterkane: LOL
cease: as it were, roto
Dr Headphones: subtle double entendre there, roto? :)
cease: re-elect me or hang me
Rotonoto: ahhh, in subtle entendre lie hidden meaning- writer responsible for all problem he create!
Dr Headphones: ah, one of the cats who seemed to have forgotten me finally came out of hiding and allowed me to rub him.
cease: who was taking care of your cats, kend?
Dr Headphones: i have married couple living in house here, besides my 4 cats, they have 6 cats, 2 dogs, 4 ferrets
Dr Headphones: it's a real zoo here
stephnfosterkane: darn, Ken -- I just tested the link and the article can't be read w/o paying $ now....sorry
Rotonoto: Betty's cat had to be coaxed out from under bed just now- for feeding- thought he was about to be taken to vets
Dr Headphones: they all learn about the cage going to the vet, avoid it at all costs
cease: wow
stephnfosterkane: can't hurt that the whole place smells like cheese pizza, Roto!
stephnfosterkane: you taking the kitten with you now, Ken?
Rotonoto: ...and hold the anchovies...
stephnfosterkane: (the link being to the NYT magazine article on the artist)
Dr Headphones: i would have to have her declawed to do that. not sure i want to do it, but do want to take her along. will make decision later, i guess
stephnfosterkane: booties?
Dr Headphones: you ever see how long booties last on a cat? about 3 seconds once they start trying to remove them
stephnfosterkane: if they don't ride early, they often don't adapt well
Rotonoto: oh please don't do that, Ken
Rotonoto: not fair to the cat
stephnfosterkane: thick plastic seat covers...
Dr Headphones: i have some cats who have been declawed, but the more i think about it, the more i don't like the idea
Bozoette: most vets are against it nowadays
Bozoette: some of them won't even perform it
Dr Headphones: illegal now in w. hollywood. so is ear or tail docking. some are even trying to outlaw spay/neuter since it's not medically necessary.
cease: hi bozoette
Rotonoto: hmmm, no spay/neuter is going pretty far
cease: oh, no i dont think loretta will win the governor's race. she has just said she's an atheist
Bozoette: Hi, Cat
Dr Headphones: oh no, without god you have NO chance in the south.
cease: she couldnt even win in california saying that.
cease: have you been on chat before, ette?
cease: he name sounds curiously familiar
Rotonoto: LOL!
Bozoette: Yes, I've been on the chat before - several weeks ago
cease: its hard for me to keep track
Rotonoto: more like a couple months ago
Dr Headphones: it had to be after i left in middle of november
Rotonoto: i'm at ette's house doing aquarium stuff
cease: it's hard to keep all the names straight, and i'm far from straight (in the 60s sense)
Bozoette: so he's a fish herd
cease: lol
Dr Headphones sings, "this is the dawning of the age of aquariums...."
Rotonoto: bubble bubble
stephnfosterkane sings, "We're marching, marching to Shibboleth..."
Dr Headphones: hmm, that one is not on my "5th dimension greatest hits" album
stephnfosterkane: Actual news item on WBUR-FM Boston "The New England Seaquarium has entered into a deal with several local seafood restaurants..."
cease: sounds like the latest red meat comic
Dr Headphones: "you WILL jump when i blow the whistle or else!"
stephnfosterkane: ...you're lunch
Rotonoto: send it in to Readers Digest, quick!
Dr Headphones: make sure it gets in the large print edition. these bifocals are killing me......
Rotonoto: Readers Digress...
stephnfosterkane: weeeell, folks, it's about time for me to begin transition to another world...
cease: keep on transitioning
stephnfosterkane: a piece of cake and some ice cream await...
Dr Headphones: ok, brian, take care and have a great birthday, my dear friend!
Rotonoto: "Fish Distress in New England Aquarium"
Rotonoto: happy bd guy
stephnfosterkane: thanks, ken -- keep in touch while you're home and I'll call (or you'll call) once you're on the road, of course
stephnfosterkane: tnx. Roto
stephnfosterkane: be sure to charge up those MP3 CDs!
Dr Headphones: when i get bored i think about calling someone. i try to rotate them around so i don't overload any one person.
stephnfosterkane: extra fudge german chocolate cake and Bryer's
Dr Headphones: ooh, ooh, eat some for me, please!
Rotonoto: ooooh!
stephnfosterkane: i hope they're calling you; as you can see from the cc's, I did my best...
stephnfosterkane: I ate nothing all day in prep for tonite's meal & dessert...
Bozoette: ette has a Klondike bar for roto
stephnfosterkane: mmmmmmm
Dr Headphones: i'm always open to talk if it's possible. straight/level/low traffic is best, of course
Dr Headphones: i got a headset but forgot to get the requisite adaptor, so still handheld phone
cease: bad for your blood sugar levels
stephnfosterkane: yeah, sounded heavy when I called you chugging up mts. in PA
stephnfosterkane has blood sugar in AM of about 65
Dr Headphones: changing gears is impossible while on the phone. one hand on wheel, one on gearshift lever, none left for phone
Rotonoto: ahhh, hypoglycemic haze...
stephnfosterkane: pizza is the #1 item for shooting it up; finally got mine up to 140, but I cheated and tested about 90 min. after the meal
Dr Headphones: purple haze? hendrix lives!
Rotonoto: uh, Ken- Headset?
cease: i have to finish that video
stephnfosterkane: yeah, I walk several miles before breakfast; at one point in the summer, I was seeing yellow spots...
Dr Headphones: for cellphone, dave.
Dr Headphones: one earphone with attached boom mike
cease: scary
stephnfosterkane: if you run Purple Haze into a lissajous setup on a scope, the intro traces a "69"
Dr Headphones: who'da thunk it? sex in rock'n'roll?
cease: i have no idea what that means, but it sounds downright visual
stephnfosterkane: or was it "Are You Experienced"? I forget; it was 35 years ago...
Rotonoto: yes, yes- them were the daze...
stephnfosterkane: you run left channel into one axis of deflection of an oscilloscope and the other channel into the other axis
Dr Headphones: http://www.math.com/students/wonders/lissajous/lissajous.html
stephnfosterkane: normally, one axis is time and the other amplitude, but you can change that and plot one channel against the other
Rotonoto: let's not bring the Axis into this!
Dr Headphones: neat javascript page where you can adjust parameters. i'm sure you will recognize what they are when you see them.
stephnfosterkane: you just defeat the X-axis, which is normally driven by an internal rising ramp voltage that pulls the spot across the screen while the veritcal channel is fed with the data, resulting in the usual displays of audio, video, etc.
Dr Headphones: some are downright psychedelic in nature
stephnfosterkane: anyway, my trouble (and cake and ice cream NOT good for this, either) is BP
Rotonoto: indeed
Rotonoto: lisajous and her twin sister laurajous
stephnfosterkane: but I'm doing what I can for that; this is celebration day, not a medical milestone :-(
Dr Headphones: are oscilloscopes an endangered species? i'm sure most is done now with A/D cards in computer
stephnfosterkane: all this talking about dessert isn't putting anyone in jail
Rotonoto: party on, dude...
stephnfosterkane: i'll get my electric thigamajig back if I have to...
stephnfosterkane: nite everyone
stephnfosterkane: zip! beep!
||||||||| stephnfosterkane is defenestrated just as the clock strikes 12:34 AM.
cease: by klok. keep on birthdaying
Rotonoto: digitizing scopes with ungodly big bandwidths, Ken, still scope displays, however
Dr Headphones: i can imagine that if done in computer, built-in fourrier transforms make analysis very simple
Dr Headphones: just checked my weather program, 18 high, 18 low. freaked me out until i realized that we are only 36 min into new day
Rotonoto: the field has gotten way out ahead of me by now
Dr Headphones: hell, if you sleep more than 4 hrs now, you are out of date and obsolete in electronics
Rotonoto: yesh
Dr Headphones: well, my dear friends, i must mosey off into the sunset. eyelids are begining to droop badly and morpheus is calling me. TTFN, will catch up with all you bozos and bozoettes at some indefinite time in the future.
Rotonoto: nice to have you on after such a long hiatus,
Dr Headphones: until then, if it doesn't work, just put the balls on the other side :)
Rotonoto: K(Ken)
Dr Headphones: yep, i specifically asked for a thursday so i could rejoin the festivities here
Dr Headphones: g'nite to those in md and those in bc
Rotonoto: try to make it once in a while, also get email capabilities again, natch
Rotonoto: nite guy
cease: by all
Rotonoto: so cat- I'll email ya later from home
||||||||| cease is defenestrated just as the clock strikes 12:43 AM.
Rotonoto: nite...
Bozoette: Rotonoto, you some atomic guy...
||||||||| Bozoette is defenestrated just as the clock strikes 12:44 AM.
Rotonoto: get your hands off me, I'm a newsman- I gotta find out- Reeeeebusssss...
||||||||| Johnny Piano sneaks in around 12:47 AM, trying to avoid Catherwood because of last week's "unpleasant incident."
Johnny Piano: Damn, you still at it?
Johnny Piano: Apparently not...
Rotonoto: hi guy, about to commit digital hare kari...
Johnny Piano: Well, I'll get my plug in...listen to The Oohs at http://www.myspace.com/theoohs
Rotonoto: I'm the last of the- everybody else went down the hole to the center of the earth
Johnny Piano: Ah, Roto...what about that guy with the cassette recorder?
Rotonoto: Roto will read the log upon returning home, and check it out tonight while emailing
Johnny Piano: I shall do something similar...see ya soon.
Rotonoto: hey guy, you're it- plese hold camera and keep it pointed down the hole...
||||||||| It's 12:50 AM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Dr Headphones - dead from jaundice
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
Johnny Piano: Damn, that looks like a big FRIED EGG!
Rotonoto: see yuou next week, same Firestation...
||||||||| Johnny Piano departs at 12:50 AM, singing "Toad away, toad away; toad away, toad away! Where do you go when you're toad away?"
||||||||| Johnny Piano sneaks in around 12:50 AM, trying to avoid Catherwood because of last week's "unpleasant incident."
Rotonoto: (tired Roto yells "Reeeebussss" a second time...)
||||||||| Johnny Piano is defenestrated just as the clock strikes 12:50 AM.
||||||||| Rotonoto departs at 12:51 AM, singing "Toad away, toad away; toad away, toad away! Where do you go when you're toad away?"
||||||||| Catherwood enters, and announces to all and sundry "It's 4:32 AM, time to change the log file and clean out unused rooms; please exit the chat room for a minute or two. Thank you for your patience."
