A Firesign Chat

||||||||| Catherwood re-enters the Waiting Room and explains "This is the main discussion room which is logged each night."
||||||||| Catherwood announces, "The time is 4:33 AM - I now declare Thursday's chat log for November 23, 2006 officially open!"... and then, he retires back to the vestibule...
||||||||| Catherwood leads Firebroiled into the room, accepts a $3 bill as a gratuity, mumbles something about 9:05 AM, then departs.
Firebroiled: I want you to pick those plates and eat of those condiments, then I want you to fill your bodies and your mouths and your minds with the thoughts and realities of food. Dear Friends, Jesus said, “Let’s us be as children.” And what do children do? They stuff themselves from day to night. They eat. They fill themselves with the reality of existence, my friend. The one common bond that holds the world together. The bond of food, the need for food, the void of emptiness. We must fill it and fill us with the fullness of it. We must eat of our friends the birds, of our friends the cows, of our friends the pigs. Yes, it’s good to eat a friend, my friend. And when the duck comes down with the magic word, what is the word? Is it too much, friends? (Pull the curtains, Fred) Look at this, look a
Firebroiled: Look at this, look at this steaming heap. Too much of Admirable Bird’s crackly brown French-fried Chicken Fingers? Too many cuts of Mother Baker’s Deep-Dish Sheep Dip Cherrystone Pie? Too many Tubs of Slaw?
Firebroiled: Pass the dinner mints, please
||||||||| Firebroiled departs at 9:07 AM, singing "Toad away, toad away; toad away, toad away! Where do you go when you're toad away?"
||||||||| With a theatrical clearing of his throat, Catherwood announces: "10:20 AM and late as usual, it's BobDCaterino, just back from Sterling."
BobDCaterino: Where natives were restless and did what they can.
||||||||| It's 10:30 AM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| BobDCaterino - dead from Globner's disease
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| Catherwood leads ah,clem in through the front door at 8:54 PM, picks up his cues (only slightly scorched), and heads for the billiard room.
||||||||| New CNI streaming notice: '"a few minutes with FireSign Theatre" at about 9 eastern, pass the Indian, please'
||||||||| Catherwood strides up and pipes up "Presenting 'Merlyn', just granted probation at 9:00 PM", then leaves hurriedly.
||||||||| Catherwood strides in with a trumpet, plays a fanfare, and proclaims "Nine PM on Thursday, November 23, 2006 - I now declare alt.comedy.firesgn-thtre's chat officially open!"
Merlyn: Hey dere, pass the indian please
||||||||| "9:02 PM? 9:02 PM!!" says Catherwood, "Dave should be here by now...oh, THERE you are!" as Dave enters and sits in the comfy chair.
Merlyn: hey dave, you missed David Ossman last week
Merlyn: and phil proctor, who I missed also because he showed up late and unannounced
Dave: evening all! so the first time I get a good chunk of time to join the crowd, it's thanksgiving, right? figures, no choir rehearsla for awhile though so I can at least be here for the next month or so
Dave: well...it was my birthday last wek so I went home to have dinner, I wanted to come though, figures again
Merlyn: maybe they'll show up a few more times in the future, now that they've tried it
||||||||| Catherwood steals into the room, and pipes up "Announcing 'Bambi', also known as 'Nancy' -- the time is 9:05 PM" -- then he slowly retires back into the anteroom...
Dave: it's a bambi! hugs
Dave: I hope so Brian, I would like to chat with them
Bambi: hi Clem, Dave and Merlyn! Pass the Indian Please! ;-)
Bambi: thanks Dave ... hugs back at cha!
Merlyn: hi bambi
||||||||| 9:08 PM: doctec jumps out of the hall closet saying "I've been listening to all of you talking about me for the past year and a half!"
Bambi waves to Merlyn
Bambi :-)
Merlyn: hey doc
doctec: squeeze the indian right there, maybe he'll pass another one
Dave: another turkey! gobble gobble
doctec: lili may or may not join us this evening - although she is here on the couch, we had a big tg dinner out and she's pretty wiped out
Bambi: hey doc! Got the DVD and have since installed first Kubuntu yesterday and played with that, and then installed Ubuntu this morning and have all kinds of transparency and customizations in Gnome which I normally hate lol but am really enjoying it in Ubuntu with all the transparency and stuff! Thanks!!!
doctec: you're welcome! i'm glad all the bits and bytes arrived intact and functional. good to hear.
Dave: mmmmmm, I love transparent things, I can see right through them
doctec: opacity quotient = 0
Bambi says Hi and Happy Pass the Indian Day to you and Lili, Doc
Bambi: LOL good one Dave
doctec replies in kind: happy tg to you, ah clem and yours
doctec extends that sentiment to those who are here, and all those who are not here
||||||||| Catherwood sneaks into the room, and pipes up "Announcing 'cease', also known as 'Nancy' -- the time is 9:13 PM" -- then he slowly retires back into the sitting room...
Bambi: crack people lol
Bambi: hi Cat ... pass the Indian, please ;-)
cease: im still using her
doctec: hey cat
cease: hi doc, et al
cease: you get the data dvd yet doc?
Bambi: lol Cat
cease: we're in our 8th day of our boil water advisory here
cease: thankfully fumiyo has just returned from japan
Bambi: brb ... need something to drink
cease: is this the dear friend with pass the indian on it?
Merlyn: hi cat
||||||||| Catherwood enters with DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny close behind, mutters something about disrupting his 9:16 PM tree-stunting plans, and hurries off to the anteroom.
cease: as long as it isnt vancouver water, bambi
doctec: hey tween
cease: we all want you to survive, at least til next week
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Happy Turkey Day all...
cease: hey merl
cease: yo missed proc last week
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Still boiling the water in Van, eh Cat?
cease: yes, its a whole new boiled world for fumiyo
cease: i was complaining to ossman that proc never shows up to chat, and as soon as ossman leaves, proc shows up
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Nothing like living in the 3rd world ;-)
Bambi: Happy Turkey Day, Tween!
cease: yes the 3rd world has come to vancouver, and brought its water
doctec: dang, wish i'd known that cat. did he stay long? any indication he'd join in again in the future?
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Really sorry I missed Proctor. Hope the guys will make themselves more welcome here.
cease: turkey day? istambul was constantinople
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Hey Bambi...
Merlyn: most people missed him, he showed up pretty late
doctec: last thursday was proc's first appearance on chat - am i right about that
cease: proc was here looking for ossman. didnt really come here to hang out, unfortunately
Bambi: you've been having to boil your water Cat?
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Follow after me, as we eat three more bites of Turkey...
cease: yes i was here with schoolboy until the end. most of you have never met him, but he's the guy who got the boys into the library of congress
cease: i helped him in a minor sort of way when we met in dc last year
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Didn't know that...
cease: boil and then britta filter, just to serve the animals. we all drink bottled water
Merlyn: he had the library card?
Bambi: was sorry I missed Proctor too, but I did get two copies of his newsletter since last week ... including the special holiday version. Fun reading
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: They absolutely are an American icon.
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: lol, or not Cat
cease: i think im off his ailing list
cease: doc tec, did you get dvd?
Dave: I showed up really late las week
cease: you were here with proc, right dave?
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: You're not feeding the animals Perrier?
||||||||| A time machine materializes at 9:21 PM and Bubba's Brain bounds out, carrying a grape from ancient Greece.
Bubba's Brain: Hey all
cease: hey bub
Dave: anyone heard from ken? haven't talked to him in probably a month
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Yo dere Bubba...
cease: did you get that neal amid off to the guy who wanted it?
Bambi: Happy Turkey Day Bubba :-)
doctec: cat: if you sent it to 68 pierce, it's probably there waiting for me to pick it up (i haven't been there in a while)
cease: wasnt he here last week?
cease: oh 8i see doc
cease: how is lili?
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: I've been getting a few bits of email, Dave. Nothing particularly personal. Jokes & such.
Merlyn: hi bb
Bubba's Brain: Yes, Cat, he sent in an order by mail, filled some time ago.
doctec: lili is hanging in there. we went out for t.g. dinner, she's wiped out at the moment.
Bubba's Brain: Happy TD, Bam, all.
cease: bambi, A Shadow Moves UPon the Land would be perfect to play tonight
cease: good to hear, bub
doctec: she's due to go in for another bronchoscopy tuesday
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: I'l bet it's a remarkably draining experience, Doc.
doctec: the v.a. docs still don't know why her left lung is all blocked off - especially since her right lung is fine
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Was listening to that yesterday, Cat.
cease: im watching a comsumer reports analyses of drain cleaners rigiht now
doctec: we've been in medical limbo ever since she started having breathing problems in mid october
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: You guys didn't happen to visit New Jersey or anything...
doctec: with any luck this upcoming hospital visit will result in the docs figuring out what's going on - and know what to do about it
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Well, they're bound to figure it out, Doc.
doctec: and yes, the experience is draining for both of us - on many fronts :-/
cease: hope so, doc
doctec: i hope so tween
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Don't doubt it...
cease: the two of you are due for some good things to happen to you
Bambi: sure hope so Doc ... that's really a tough nut to crack on what's going on since nothing conclusive so far.
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: The Karma wheel must turn sometime...
doctec: in a way, working on the mtbf chronicles bits for jimmy lee & bambi's saturday computer-oriented cni radio show has been therapeutic
doctec: gets my mind off all the problems
cease: i can see how it would be, doc
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: They're really good bits, Doc.
Bambi: so glad to hear that Doc! :-)
Bambi: they have been great pieces too!
doctec: thanks all
Dave: brb need to take the puppy out
Bambi: I love the name of your contributions too... can't beat that
doctec: k dave
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Not a Windoze user, but I know enough to know that's some really good info and advice.
Bambi: yep, very true Tween
doctec: tween: what audio software are you using on your linux system to do your 'roadkill minute' bits?
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: My meantime between failures seems to be constantly shrinking (or at least that's what my creaking joints tell me).
doctec: re joints: lol
Bambi: Hi to Katie ... a scratch behind the ear to her
cease: i wonder if we'll ever see all those folks who showed up to meet tirebiter last week again
Dave: I loves my dog, oh Brian can I send you a pic of us so you can put it up here? send me a pm please with the answer since it will scroll by before I come back
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Not Linux. Mac OS 9 & X. Digital Performer in OS 9.
doctec: i figure i'm the odd man out on cni - everyone else seems to be firmly entrenched in linux land
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Yeah, let's check out Dave's pup :-)
doctec: ooh, d.p. - hell of a system
cease: yes, they are lovable, dave
Bubba's Brain: Tween -- thanks for your note about receiving the catalog. Good to know it got there before Thanksgiving.
Bambi: hard to say Cat ... but it was a very nice crowd
cease: i was hoping for more interesting interaction with our esteemed guest but one cant be picky
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Older version, but still quite powerful. Haven't scratched the surface. No processing of the bits so far, just dry narration and editing.
cease: i was part of a panel that interviewed ossman for a sf radio program in van about a decade ago
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Yeh, Bubba. Great idea having it on paper to peruse.
Bambi: I use Win2K, FC5 and now Ubuntu...and hopefully soon to be Mac OS 8.6 and/or Ubuntu PPC lol
cease: the other panel members were only vaguely aware of firegisn
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: We'll make a Mac person out of you yet ;-)
ah,clem: ...
Bubba's Brain: Hopefully it will help people find stuff they might not otherwise have considered.
cease: how are firesign sales thru lodestone, bub?
Bambi: lol Tween
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: FST hasn't received nearly the press they deserve.
Bubba's Brain: about as usual. they are the bulk of my biz.
doctec: yeah bb - any sign of a spike in sales resulting from the 40th anniversary promo efforts?
cease: thats good
Bambi: I am one of those people that likes to use the proper tool for the job ... somethings I really like Windows best for but most things Linux does just as well or better.
cease: i wonder how ossman's publisher, bear whiz books or whatever, will publicize the book?
Bambi: and I can't wait to try out the Mac to see how I like that
cease: thats why he came here last week. hope it netted a few sales
Bubba's Brain: no, doc, not yet. I've got Christmas boost, and catalog arrival boost, and none of them have spiked like I expected.
Merlyn: dunno cat
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Have you considered getting the mailing lists from i/net stations like Mystery Play Radio, ACB and such? I'll bet they'd be interested in the catalogs.
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: We'll get on it after the holidays, Bambi :-)
cease: it owuld be great if tirebiter could do lots of radio interviews. terry gross, all the locals who know firesign, which would me those over 50
doctec: i started with cool edit '96, then cool edit 2000, then a (purloined) copy of cool edit pro (i did cat's red shift with that pgm), and became a legitimate owner and user of adobe audition (after adobe bought syntrillium, the cool edit pro company)
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Yeah, Fresh Air would be a natural.
cease: thakns again, doc. off in search of cubes for a few minutes, theyre getting rarer than jewals in van
Bambi: many love Adobe Audition ... bet that's very expensive too
doctec: i used 'reason' (propellerhead.se) for the mtbf theme music
doctec: k cat
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Don't know from Cool Edit.
Bambi: but it's obviously a great program
Bubba's Brain: Didn't they do Fresh Air about 8 years ago?
doctec: oops, make that propellerheads.se
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Julia sure didn't have very good luck using it for her bit...
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: No idea, Bubba.
doctec: i got a break on the price of adobe audition because i bought into cool edit pro and still had a copy of the license # and the install executable
doctec: i had to install cool edit 2000 before my copy of audition would install
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: The latest version of Digital Performer retails for $495. I'll wait ;-)
Bambi: I used to use CoolEdit as well before they were bought out by Adobe
Bambi: really Doc...that's weird
doctec: has anyone here used audacity yet? am curious as to opinions of it
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Bought DP 3.11 for OS 9 for $35 on eBay. More my speed lol
Bambi: ah, ok, that's why
||||||||| It's 9:40 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Dave - dead from measles
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
Bambi: yes, I use it and JL uses it extensively (Audacity)
doctec: i bought the audition upgrade package, it wouldn't install unless it found a copy of cool edit 2000 installed on the machine - not that weird really, kind of a ce2000 'proof of ownership' scheme
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: But then CNI always was audacious...
Bambi: it's a great little program that's come a long way ...does a great job ... need lame dlls to export to mp3
Bambi: heard that Tween!
Bambi: lol Tween
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: lol
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: brb
doctec: ah yes, the lame encoder - i worked with a very early version of it, i imagine it is much better now than it was way back when (1998, 1999 ... ? )
Bambi: not quite as stable as CE was ... but if you figure it out, it's pretty stable and works well
doctec: when i get ubuntu going, i will have to download and install audacity
doctec: is this thing still on?
cease: nairobi, doc. isnt everybody
Bambi: Good idea doc ... there are many things in Linux for the various parts of production
doctec: i remember the nairobi trio - always loved that bit
Bambi: even ogg does a great job on video
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Didn't know .ogg did video...
Bambi: didn't realize it could do that till I looked at the Examples in Ubuntu
doctec: i wanna know how to create m4a audio files
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Ask Apple ;-)
doctec: they sound friggin' great, and you can create indexes within the files - a neat feature missing from mp3
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Actually, I guess theirs are M4P.
Bambi: LOL, gonna need something from Apple for that, I would imagine
doctec: m4a is apple exclusive? i read it was just the audio component of mp4 videos
ah,clem: high sample rate mp3 sounds quite good too
cease: you know the song bridge over troubled water? it was used in an air america show today an dit sounded like it was recorded ina gym
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: No Doc. M4P is their DRM format.
Bambi: M4a = unprotected M4P = protected media (DRIM) blech!
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: _serious_ reverb on Bridge
Bambi: yes, sure does JL ... and ogg is great too
Bambi: DRM
Bambi: ogg has come a very long way!
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: One thing I didn't realize Clem, is that the quality very much depends on the encoder being used. Apparently, some encoders are better at high res and some better at lower.
doctec: drm = dungeon-required media
doctec: all encoders are not created equal, that's for sure
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: digitally recorded manure
ah,clem: very true Tweeny
Bambi: that's a fact (regarding encoders)
doctec: btw tween: i enjoyed the snl celeb jeopardy mpeg - thanks for that
Bambi: then you have flac and aac too
doctec: i don't always take the time to respond to everything i receive via email, but it's all appreciated
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Glad you liked it. They did a wonderful series of Jeopardy parodies.
doctec: yeah, i think there are a couple celeb jeopardy segments on youtube
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: No sweat whatsoever. Can't respond to every email ;-)
doctec: not the one you sent tho'
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Wouldn't surprise me at all if they'd been posted. Will be interesting to see if they can still do things like that when Google takes over.
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Since you liked that one, I'll send some others...
doctec: so, how many people are champing at the bit to go out and buy a zune player? (he asks, rhetorically - none, he imagines)
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Mrs. Prominent...
ah,clem: this is an old sample, and not well encoded, but thought it was a good one to play for this show
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: lol Doc
doctec: what a piece of crap - i can't imagine zune sales ever taking off
Bambi: Merlyn what does 'hear red' mean?
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: At 16k, it sounds just fine Clem ;-)
Bubba's Brain: Not very zune, doc.
cease: to the great white north
||||||||| Hemlock Stones waltzes in at 9:54 PM carrying an obsidian door knocker.
Bambi: Zune stinks
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Yeah, all the DRM they're including. Vista and a Zune - that's what I want for Christmas...
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Sir Stones...
cease: its prominant stones
Bubba's Brain: Bam, it means you see only messages posted in red -- i.e. posted by firesigners.
Hemlock Stones: Greetings and a Happy Thanksgiving to you all
Bambi: hi Stones! Pass the Indian, please.
doctec: lol bub! they added the cool transmission feature, but crippled it with the drm - probably to appease the record companies they had to make deals with for their catalogs to be available through the 'zune store'
Bubba's Brain: Hey stones.
Bambi: ah, ok, thanks Bubba
Hemlock Stones: (grunts and sweats as he passes overweight Indian to Bambi )
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: You celebrate your dining with the Celts, Stones?
Bambi: yeah, like I would ever buy anything that's laced with DRM
ah,clem: Happy Thanksgiving, Mr. Stones
Merlyn: hey stones
Bambi: lol Stones
cease: Picts? Pixies?
Hemlock Stones: the celts dont exactly dine, Tween, they hunt and they gather
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Except theirs have turbans.
ah,clem: so did the Indians, lol
Hemlock Stones: anyone care for another Indian, i have a couple left ?
doctec: i bought an ipod, but i've never bought anything from the apple store and i never load it with anything other than mp3s
||||||||| A time machine materializes at 9:57 PM and Gypsydoctor sashays out, carrying a grape from ancient Greece.
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: What's on your right?
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Hey Gypsy...
||||||||| Catherwood sneaks into the room, and pipes up "Announcing 'llanwydd', also known as 'Nancy' -- the time is 9:57 PM" -- then he slowly retires back into the sitting room...
Bambi: hi Gypsydoctor
doctec: hey gypsydoc
llanwydd: happy thanksgiblet
doctec: hey lland
Hemlock Stones: it looks like a Navajo but i cant say for sure in this dim light
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: I was wondering if we'd pick up and new folks from the Ossman chat.
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Hey LL...
Bambi: we have another friend that also has an ipod and never puts anything but mp3s on it
Merlyn: hhi llan
||||||||| Gypsydoctor leaves at 9:58 PM, singing "Oh, I'm just a little fishy, floating in the sea, and there ain't no hook that's smart enough to catch the likes of me..."
cease: maybe yes, maybe no
Hemlock Stones: hi llan
Bambi: hi llanwydd ... Happy Turkey Day
Bubba's Brain: Hey gypsy, llan
llanwydd: just got back from harlem
llanwydd: 300 mile trip
cease: in turkey, with Armenians
Hemlock Stones: incidentally, if anyone has run out of turkeys, we have more than 600 to spare in our government !
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Gypsy has travelled onward..
cease: if you dont come to harlem, one day soon harlem will come to you
Bambi: the ipod is great ... it's the DRM that stinks ... and as long as one can still put mp3s on it, it's worth having ... but the Zune, forget it.
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: You had dinner in Harlem? Must have been quite an experience ;-)
doctec: sorry stones, we've got more than our fair share here - won't be running out anytime soon
llanwydd: I work with a group that goes down there every thanksgiving to feed the needy on the corner of morningside ave. and w125th
Bambi: lol Stones
Hemlock Stones: dammit Doctec, was counting on offloading this flock ASAP
Bambi: very true Doc
doctec: harlem comes to cotton?
Hemlock Stones: i cant afford the corn as i have to save it for here
Bubba's Brain: Corn?
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 10 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
Bubba's Brain: Now we can make tortillas
doctec: stones: didn't england offload a bunch back in the 1600s?
||||||||| Gusts of wind blow in from outside and the thumpa-thumpa-thumpa of helicopter blades is heard as Happy Panditt's chopper lands on the lawn and Honey Sanchez disembarks at 10:01 PM.
Hemlock Stones: yes i think we did Doc
cease: hi honey
Bambi: hi Honey ... Happy Turkey Day
Hemlock Stones: Hi Honey
llanwydd: hi ms sanchez
Merlyn: hi hs
Honey Sanchez: shalom namaste aloha hello
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Ms. Honey...
Bambi: sounds like another purge is due, huh Stones?
Hemlock Stones: indeed it is
Hemlock Stones: this time we will supply a boat with a hole in the bottom
Hemlock Stones: if we dumped this lot on you we could never look you in the eye again
Bubba's Brain: Yes, just what we need -- a good purge after this day of binging.
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: A free vacation to Basra, perhaps?
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: lol Stones
Hemlock Stones: good idea Tween i hear its delightful this time of year
llanwydd: seems to me we've had bigger crowds on thanksgiving
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: And the natives are so polite...
Bambi: heard that! and like Doc was saying, we have enough problems with our current crop lol
Honey Sanchez: probably passed out from the l tryptophan in the turkey
Hemlock Stones: yes they are, excuse me would you mind if i exploded here ?
cease: was that an ossman poem?
doctec: stones: gotta tell you, they'd probably blend right in with the idiots we have here already - we'd never notice the difference :-)
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Let's hope the Dems get some cojones. They have no excuse now.
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: A la Mr. Creosote in The Meaning Of Life?
Hemlock Stones: Tween what are cojones, is it something like haemarhoids ??
llanwydd: so was that really proctor who logged on after ossman left last week?
llanwydd: I hope it was
doctec remember that great eddie izzard bit about thanksgiving ... "pardon me, but do you have any food? love the feathers, really ..."
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Gar¨on, get Mr. Stones his bucket...
cease: yes izzard does american history better than anyone
doctec became an instant izzard fan when 'dressed to kill' appeared
Bambi: yes, Tween ... they are being laughed at now because they have backed down and do not seem to even have an idea of what's important to fight for
cease: except firesign
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Izzard's great. Love his concerts.
Hemlock Stones: no thanks Tween you get them from sitting on your arse too much, not talking through it
Bubba's Brain: Freberg does it pretty good too.
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: A Corporate Transvestite lol
doctec: izzard: "i'm from england - where the history comes from"
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Exactly, Doc
Hemlock Stones: sorry Doc they cleaned the past already
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: It's been regrooved.
cease: the dif between firesing in izzard is that he expects ignorance, firesigns expect knowledge of all sorts of esoterica
Merlyn: Amsterdam group scraps plans to smoke world's largest joint: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20061122/od_nm/dutch_cannabis_dc
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: By the Ministry of Information.
cease: sounds like the arlo guthrie tune, alice's rainbow coloured roach
Hemlock Stones: if you lived in England you would expect ignorance too, cease, even the dumbing down has been dumbed down now
Bubba's Brain: Bombers, not bombers....
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Hello, I hear you have "cafes" in your country :-)
Bubba's Brain: Are they up to cafe standards.
cease: for some reason, i expects brits to be more knowlegeable than yanks, at leatst about their history
Honey Sanchez: "You can get anything you want in Alice's Cafe" just doesn't sound right somehow
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: They watch TV too, Cat ;-)
doctec has no problem with lowest-common-denominator thinking .... it's just not for him, that's all
llanwydd: cafe means coffee
Hemlock Stones: a survey published today showed that 50% of british kids could not point to England on the world map, i know its a small place but really .......
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: _that's_ where LCDs come from!
cease: i dont agree that watching tv makes you stupid or reading books makes you smart
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Jeeze, Stones...
cease: stones i think its higher than that in the states
Honey Sanchez: kaffe too
Merlyn: You can get anything by Raffi at Alice's Cafe
Bubba's Brain: At the center, isn't it?
llanwydd: I find that statistic a little hard to take seriously, stones
Hemlock Stones: beleive me its only a slight exaggeration
Merlyn: those british kids are too close to the continent, they can't see the shape - no wonder they can't find it on a map
cease: my frined huddart worked for raffi. luckily he does no lnoger
llanwydd: 60 percent of what age kids?
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: Well, if you read the Collected Essays of Dan Quayle, Cat...
cease: doc know him. he was in all of my plays
Hemlock Stones: i dont even think they have realised its an island, especially since the built the Channel Tunnel
||||||||| Catherwood leads Dave in through the front door at 10:11 PM, picks up his cues (only slightly scorched), and heads for the billiard room.
doctec: 50% of religious conservatives think the other 50% are heretics
Merlyn: hey

DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: We're all in Italy!
doctec: hmm, let's see if i can turn off these italics
Honey Sanchez: hi dave
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: wb Dave
Merlyn: I'd better fix that (again)
doctec: merl beat me to it
llanwydd: 2 year olds?
cease: growing up in la in 50s-60s i found the general atmosphere to be profoundly anti-intellectural
Bambi: wb Dave!
Dave: well so much for my earlier request, I got distracted
cease: but there were always a few, and thats all you need
Merlyn: dave, you can send a picture to me at westley@visi.com
Hemlock Stones: to be anti-intellecltual, presupposes that one possess an intellect so its not all that bad
doctec: lili will tell you: i am easily distracted :-)
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: C'est vrai, Cat.
DeliciousIndianHeartTweeny: lol Stones

cease: are we dead yet?
||||||||| cease is kicked out just as the clock strikes 11:31 PM.
Hideo: Moof /moof/ [MAC users] n. The Moof or `dogcow' is a semi-legendary creature that lurks in the depths of the Macintosh Technical Notes Hypercard stack V3.1; specifically, the full story of the dogcow is told in technical note #31 (the particular Moof illustrated is properly named `Clarus'). Option-shift-click will cause it to emit a characteristic `Moof!' or `!fooM' sound. *Getting* to tech note 31 is the hard part; to discover how to do that, one must needs examine the stack script with a hackerly eye. Clue: {rot13} is involved. A dogcow also appears if you choose `Page Setup...' with a LaserWriter selected and click on the `Options' button.
Hideo: i have eaten many dogcows but never a moof

||||||||| Catherwood enters, and announces to all and sundry "It's 4:32 AM, time to change the log file and clean out unused rooms; please exit the chat room for a minute or two. Thank you for your patience."
