I wrote a complaint to NPR. Here's the email and response, which is about as vague as they come:

Subject: NPR Censors Firesign Theater?!?!?!?!

First of all, let me say that I am thrilled you are running Firesign Theater segments on NPR. However, I was just looking at their website and found out you refused to air their Thanksgiving segment, Pass the Indian, which is a great piece and just as classic as something like William S. Burrough’s Thanksgiving Prayer (which he was allowed to read on NBC’s SNL for god’s sakes!) In this Ashcroftian era, I would have hoped that NPR would be a last holdout for free speech. What a disappointment.

Dear Ms. Roberts,

Actually, NPR doesn't censor anybody. But in this instance, the editors felt that the piece didn't fit.
It happens to us all.
